Honda NC750X

About the same time as this weeks false start on the Moto Guzzi I picked up a Honda NC750X that is supposed to go to the shop. Been riding it around quite a bit and I have to admit it is a really good bike.
The NC750X is one of those bike that seriously out performs it's spec sheet. It is not however a true Adventure bike although Honda lists it in the category. What is is is a utilitarian tool that happens to be a fun bike. The one I'm riding has a conventional 6 speed tranny. After a week of riding the bike I will say it's only fault is that it is so competent some would consider it boring. No rocket ship but once you get in the midrange you are riding on gobs of torque. Weather protection is pretty good too. Eventually I'm going to have to give this thing back but I'm having a blast riding around on it for the moment.

I looked at this bike prior to the tenere. Don’t know why I didn’t buy one. It has a pretty good spec sheet.

Don't underestimate the NC750 off-road. I have seen amazing bullshit successfully pulled off on one.

I had an NC700DX as my first bike. Sold it to my son so I could get the Tenere. When we had the Tenere meet and greet in Custer South Dakota a couple of years ago, he rode it there to attend with me. It was a great bike. It was a little cramped for my legs

Just returned from a fly/ride tour of Gran Canaria. I rode the NC750 for a day on the VERY twisty mountain roads. Perfect bike for the job and very impressed. A couple of friends rode the DCT version and loved it

I think I need to go ride that road to thoroughly evaluate the bike. First thing I ought to do is put new tires on this one. At 5700 miles the OEMs are shot. Don't know why I'm even riding it with them on it but having too much fun. Just need to make sure it's the shop's tires not mine!

One thing for sure a man could do a lot worse than riding an NC750X! I even rode it back to back with my beloved 890 Adventure and I still really liked it!

Isn't this, the Versys, and V-Strom all in the same class/category?

I guess sort of ish..... I'm not sure what category the NC750 would fall in. It has 17" wheels front and rear. I don't remember what the others run. Definitely outclasses the Versys and V-Strom in my opinion. 10X more fun to ride on the street but I am not a fan of either of the other bikes. Not to say they're not good just don't appeal to me. Lots of people been loving the V-Strom for a long time.

I think the NC makes so much torque it feels like a bigger bike than it is. Honestly it has a lot of similar qualities to the S10.

Put new tires on the NC today, changed the oil and filter too. Big improvement in ride and handling although I didn't much time to really check it out. What I did notice was it feels much better under braking. Just for s&g I jumped on my 890 Adventure for 20 minutes after riding the NC. Yeah I still love my 890 but it did prove that the NC IS a good bike too. I say that because after riding the 890 I still like riding the NC.

Says alot about the NC. Its too easy sometimes to look for the downsides but if you can have fun on it that says it all.

How far can you go on a tank?

I'm not sure of the range. I've been riding fairly briskly and I'm still showing close to or 60mpg, Tank holds 3.7 gal so I'm guessing 180-200 is reasonable

That's what was the mileage that I was getting out of mine. The tank is under the seat and access to fill it up is under the back seat. Kind of a pain if you have stuff strapped down to it.

Just read the review of the TransAlp on ADV and it was unintentionally a somewhat compelling argument for the NC750X. Some of the comments said the same.

Looks like they are rated at 58hp. That is a big problem for me. Honda can do better than that.
