What does the inside of the box look like? Looks like a nice spot for a camera. Would also like to see the bottle mount closer. Not quire a homemade topic but how are the Shinkos holding up?

It's padded 'pick-n-pluck' foam as they call it. I removed all but a thin perimeter piece so that things wouldn't bump around on hard bits. It works great for a camera, wallet, sidearm, randomwhatevers, etc. Stock photo shown below;

I need to take some updated pics, as I just realized that these don't show the velcro'd map pocket on top.

That's about as close of a pic that I have on the holder, but can take some more. I simply pulled the peg mount, traced out some cardboard to a shape that fit, transferred to metal, and reinstalled everything with a bottle holder from a bicycle I had laying around. Works great!

Credit where it's due though, I robbed the idea(s) from other members...GregthePole, I think. ::008::

As for the shinko, I'm real happy with them. Not so great in the dirt, but not terrible...unless it's muddy. :D They stick nearly as good as the stockers (when new), and mileage has been good. I've got about 7k on the rear, with another 1k probably left. It's starting to get loose if you really push it, but I'm not easy on them though. I can buy two of those for the price of one Metzeler, and I used to be a Metz fan boy. ;D

Those are the 705 model, btw, and they get ran on my KLR too...for the same reasons. ::024::

Took a shot of the map pocket add-on while I was at it...

It's a Wolfman Rolie Bag Map Pocket - Small. Fits this particular Pelican model perfectly. I lined the two ribbed areas on the box with velcro, which mates nicely with the velcro patches on the map pocket. I use it for maps, taking bills to the post office, and there's room to slide a smartphone in as well. ;)

No snow right now, just riding between rainstorms. ::001::

After the ride north last year I thought I would have a go at making some front fork protectors. I used the Kreiga fork protectors on that ride and although they worked good, I thought I would try and add some protection for rock chips and mud on the lower legs so this is the end result. And after a few different designs, this one seems to work the best. Made from .040 alluminum, attached at the two fender mounting points, a coat of gloss black paint and a few decals for some bling. Have been on the bike for close to 1000 km and so far so good.

These ones had the larger (lower) mounting bracket made bigger and moved up a bit.

Radio Shack kit box ($3) mounted at the bottom on dual-lok (industrial type velcro) also available from Radio Shack ($2 or $3). I have the mirror extenders which places the mirror stem right behind the box, box is clamped to stem to stabilize it. The waterproof lighted push button switches cost about $3 on Ebay. The lights in the switches are 3 volt DC so I had to use a resistor to reduce the voltage from 12V to 3V. I use cheap $30 heated grips that work great especially when you have infinite control thru a Heat-troller. All power comes from a fuseblock ($9 at auto parts store) controlled by the ignition thru a Relay ($4). All wires are run thru heat shrink tubing.
On the back side of the box is the remote volume control for my Amplirider ( $65) audio integrator.

Me too, gonna contemplate having a go at copying if you don't mind breach of copyright.
No problem. Gotten a lot of good info. from others here myself. The product reviews done by other members have saved me a lot of time and searching when I was fitting the bike out.

You really need to ride. It's like you are in Wisconsin instead of Texas.
