Hello everyone...I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Troy and I just brought home my new Super Tenere this afternoon. Very impressed with this bike. I've done more reading about Adv bikes than I care to admit. It came down to the Tenere and the Tiger Explorer so I decided to test ride both of them today. The Tiger Explorer was first. The bike has great power and the breaks are awesome. The Tiger also looks awesome, but you can see where they tried to mimic the BMW. The one positive thing that stood out the most during the test ride was the power and balance...the biggest negative and the reason why I shied away from it was the riding position. It had more of a sport bike feel than a touring / adventure ride. On a 20 minute test ride I felt uncomfortable by the end...hands and back...might have been able to tweak the fit, but just didn't seem like it would fit right...I'm 5'11" 250 - 260lbs and it seemed like I was cramped on the Tiger XC.
On to the Super T! The dealer (different than the Tiger dealer) wouldn't let me take it for an extended test ride...I only got to ride it down a side street a few times. But I could immediately tell the riding position was much better than the Tiger. Another thing that I noticed the ST had over the Tiger was handling...the Super T just seemed more grounded and balanced a little better than the Tiger, but not much. I had read that the ST had a lack of power and I could see a difference were the Tiger had more, but I was very impressed with the Super T's power band as I drove it home on the highway and was able to open it up...it had plenty of power for me...others might disagree. I'm really looking forward to getting to know my new bike. I have a few long rides in store the Super Tenere. I'll make sure to update as I go...really looking forward to racking up some miles!
