Well, hello everyone. I just, as in today, picked up my brand new 2020 Super Tenere. Back in 2019 I test rode one on 3 different occasians, and I liked it back then. The problem in 2019? I had just mid-lifed my way into a Tracer 900 the year before, from a 2011 VStrom 650. Anyway, long story short, divorced, mid life crisis, settled down, remarried to a woman that likes to ride, and the Tracer is great fun. It's just not great for 2-up riding; at least from the comfort side. All right, all caught up. If you haven't ridden a CP3 engined bike, lets just say they're fun. Very spirited. I've personally ridden the Tracer, the XSR900, and the Niken. I've traded 3 bikes before this, and the Tracer was the first one I was sad to see go; it is such a fun engine and bike.

On the hunt for a S10, I found myself several new old-stock 2020 and 2019 S10's across dealers in my area, and settled on a 2020 which I was able to talk down some, and here I am. Picked her up this morning, and took her for a nice gentle 140km run in touring mode. I can't wait to finish that break in period, so I can actually ride it. The ones I demo rode were of course broken in already, and I was impressed by how fast and fun the S10 was, especially compared to my Tracer. Today, I was going really easy on her, so it was boring, though in a comfy way the Tracer never was.

I'm 6'7", so if anyone has some good suggestions on reasonable mods to make her fit a little better I would love to hear them. I will be hunting down some risers / pull backs, but failed to notice the odd bolt pattern on the stock risers. My Rox pull backs, 1.25" up and 1.25" back, won't work with that strange bolt pattern. I suspect my big thing will be either the seat, or look to lower the pegs / controls.

Welcome from Texas. We have a couple tall members that can help advise you what you'll need. Personally, I wouldn't lower the pegs. If you like riding "spiritedly", you don't want to lose any ground clearance.

Welcome from Ontario. I got a pair of highway pegs that I added to the crash bars and that helps although I am just 6'. I do suggest the Helibars for it though, puts the bars exactly where I like them.

Welcome from Cape Breton, Darkstar. Where in Canada are you located?
Helibar risers should fit you well. They place the bars further back and up. You should also be shopping for engine/crash guards if you plan on leaving the asphalt behind. The stock Bridgestone Battlewings are excellent on sealed surfaces, wet or dry, but leave much to be desired any where else. At speed the Super Tenere airflow can be very turbulent in the saddle and the optional 'winglets' made a big difference in this regard for me and many others. You may want to consider a larger aftermarket windscreen as well, given your height. The Madstad windshield and bracket is an excellent upgrade over stock.
If you ever make it out to Cape Breton, look me up B'ye!

Welcome Darkstar and congratulations on your choices of motorcycles! The Tracer 9 is possibly the only bike that could tempt me away from my S10 which is why I have avoided a test ride so far!
By the way, I know screens are a personal thing, but since I fitted a Givi Airflow to mine, it has transformed my whole riding experience.

I can concur with you, Longdog. on the effectiveness of the GIVI Airflow. My son installed that screen just last week and he claims it has made a positive difference in reducing helmet buffeting. What he didn't like was that it attaches directly to the bike with the windshield bracket removed, thereby losing the ability to adjust the height. That also means that you can't use it in combination with the Madstad bracket. With the bracket removed and no cross bar, he will have to find another location to mount any electronic aids.

Does anyone else see the cartoon duck in the GIVI Airflow?

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the advice. I looked into the helibars riser, and it's been ordered. After another ride today, I need it. I'm going to look into the Givi screen; I had one on my Tracer and it was amazing. Actually, the stock height adjustment on the S10 is sort of surprising at how meh it is, so I'm not married to that bracket anyway. I already have the Givi rack installed for the top box, and I have the tanklock ring in the mail to mount the tank bag.

I'm in Ontario, near Peterborough, for those that were curious.

Interesting, hmmm...I almost bought a Tracer 3 and or an FJR (rocket).
I settled on a 2018 Tenere ES.
Great bike, 46,500 km in two Ontario Canada seasons.
I'm told the Tracer is a fast bike...torquey, capable of high speeds.
However, not great on gravel, whereas the Tenere shines on gravel and my 2020 Africa Twin DCT model shines even better...although I miss the shaft drive.
