HI all, just sharing my experience. For reference I am 6'4" with the seat in high position. I just installed the Pro-Taper Adventure bars on my 2014 (part 024026, the "Adventure" not the "Adventure High"). I previously had the stock bars with 1.5" riser block, but the bend bothered my elbows and shoulders. I thought I'd want to keep the risers and use the lower bars, but instead I installed just the bars without risers. They put the grips at roughly the same height as before, but with less sweep and a neutral angle for me. I did not cut the bars. I did have to tap the ends as mentioned in other posts, using a cheap tap I purchased on Amazon. 16mm x 1.5 (link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K21XMV3). Pretty straightforward with a vise and hand tools if you take your time.
Getting the left grip off was a chore but with compressed air, soapy water in a spray bottle, and a long flat screwdriver I got it off with only mild language. Heating element does still work afterward so it was successful.
I opted to drill the 3 locator holes in the new bar, using the old as a reference, thus keeping the existing locator nubs on the controls. It turned out fine.
End result seems much more neutral and comfortable. I can stand full height. Very happy and ready for my next multi-state tour.
