Greetings,

I am Big Ed from Irmo South Carolina. I look forward to sharing ideas with you on this forum. We already share the anticipation of the S10 inevitable arrival. I've learned a little more about some small details I was interested in knowing. I ordered a Black S10 in January after three months of struggling to choose between a Concours 14, Triumph Thunderbird, and a FJR1300. I've never owned an Adventure Bike before although I was always interested in the V Strom 1000. Previously, I've purchased a M109R over the V Strom to make my wife happy as she would be the passenger. Well, this time I jumped into a Super Tenere. I've never ordered a bike before without at least sitting on it. However, I've seen so many good reviews of the S10, I just thought I would go for it. I want to be able to travel long distance in comfort with minimal gas stops. In the last hours of my decision making, it was between the S10 and the Concours. The S10 won. Hopefully, I will receive my order in May. I intend on riding to the Taste of Chicago in June if everything goes well.
May our S10's be all what we each expect and more!

Super Tenereian,
BIG motorcyclistED

Welcome to the fun. I think you made a great choice. I bet your wife will enjoy it too as well as the M109R.

Absolutely, I will be at the Greenville International Motorcycle Show and I no longer have the FJ1200. Thank You for the Welcome responses. Give me a few days to learn the features of this forum.

BigEd, I just sold my C10 in anticipation of the S10. I rode that Concours for 4 years and loved it, but, when I bought it, I was looking for something more like the S10. There really was nothing out there that I could get that fit what I was looking for, but the C10 was the closest thing to it. I had seen the GS a few times and it sparked my interest in the Adventure Bike option, but it seemed WAY over priced. It was just luck that I happened to be at a Yamaha dealer in December looking at a used XT250 for my son when I saw the poster of the S10 on the wall. I immediately knew that it was the one. As practical and versatile as the C10 was, the S10 is even more so. If the C14 sparked your interest for the same reason that I bought the C10, then I think that the S10 will be perfect for you. Congrats on your decision and welcome to the group.

Welcome to our great Forum and to the long wait until May!! I'm sure your wife is going to like the SuperT as much as you will. Should be a very comfy bike for two-up riding!

:)

big Ed,

Welcome to the fold! Buying sight unseen was a first for me too. I did get the see the bike at the Cleveland bike show last month but by then I had been on the order list almost 5 months! I have ridden BMW GS' so I think I have a pretty good idea what to expect. Come on May!

Hey Guys,

I was at the IMS in Greenville Yesterday. The show was not as good as when it used to be held in Atlanta. Triumph, Motoguzzi, and a couple other manufactures did not bring any motorcycles. I guess South Carolina is too small of a market for them. The Super Tenere got a lot of attention in the Yamaha section. I almost had to wait on line to sit on one. There was a fully loaded display and a naked S10 display. I am 6' tall and 260 lbs. The riding position is perfect for me!!! The M109R did fit me well also PQSQAC. I rode it from S.C. to N.J. with decent comfort levels. The M109R was good only for 170 Miles to the tank the way I rode. I hope the S10 will take me 200+ miles. Bad News, my wife still does not care for the S10. My wife sat on the back of the S10 and she COULD NOT complain about leg room. She is spoiled after years of riding on the back of big bore trendy cruisers. AVGEEK, I guess I will be riding solo with the Super Tenereians. LOL.

Big Ed

My wife rides with me about 25% of the time - which means the SuperT must function (and be comfy) for two-up riding long distances. If this does not pan out, my FJR will remain in my stable to cover the time we ride together.

I also ride solo. My wife has never had an interest and will not try. There are times I wish she was along on a trip, but not that often. :D Riding solo is not that bad for me. I go where I want and when I want, for as long as I want.
Yea, I've got a good one.. :p
