Ive decided to get some boots that dont have a water proof liner.. So to make them water proof I want to get a pair of Gore-Tex socks. I know Klim make a pair and a few other people... Has anyone used a pair? If so what brand, Etc ?? How critical is the sock size? They range from about $35-99.
If anyone has info post it up :) Thanks

I have used a pair of REI Gore Tex socks for years. I wear them over a pair of wool socks in my Bates Fast Lane on-road boots. They are waterproof and fairly wind proof so they add warmth on a cold day. They are always in my tank bag when I am touring ( unless I am wearing my Alpinstar Scouts that are waterproof. I have also worn them hiking in wet weather.

Hey guys.. I appreciate the plastic bag idea.. But when your all geared up here in TX, and its 105* F out side, the plastic bag is a killer... They don't stay up, they rip, tear, Etc... Im going to go with some form fitting, proper socks... :)

I used them for years in trials boots. We were always in or around water (at least at the really good places) and the boots were never waterproof. I lived by them on long days. Size is not a big consideraiotns, mine were oversized but never felt bulky in the boot

Hey, J, I hear you .... you'd think down in your neck o the woods, wet feet would feel good most of the time. ::025:: ::025:: Up here, wet feet are a serious concern most of the time. I wear regular socks and boots, and carry a set of Treds .... natural rubber over boots .... waterproof and windproof. I have never had cold feet with this set up. Very nice. Sorry, I digress ...... R.

I was going to get a pair, but decided to invest in other Klim gear at the time. Either way, you'll want a baselayer sock, as so much as perspiration will make it a bear to take on/off. But, that liner can't be above the top of the goretex sock as most of them have a "rubberized" ring to help hold them up.

You might also look into Sealskinz...

105? I'd welcome wet feet.
Oh, now I see. I was going to recommend the water-proof boot gaiters/overboots 'til I read that. I have a pair of Kushitani Gortex overboots that have served me well, and they breathe much better than a plastic bag 8). I've used Goretex socks on many occasion and they've done their job well. I have a pair of 'Rocky' brand that I picked up in a military uniform shop. I see they're also sold at REI. Anyhow, 2 thumbs up on Rocky from me.
