You’re likely to get many recommendations here. I’ve had my Super Tenere for about 38k miles and have only used Metzeler Tourance, mostly the NEXT variant. I ride all weathers and all road types (tarmac) and like to push on a bit. Never had an issue in the wet or dry and am about to order another set. I highly rate them.

If longevity it a biggie for you, I reckon with gentle riding you’d be lucky to get more than about 8k miles from a set.

I had Michelin road 4 and 5 on my 03 bmw k1200rs, and they feathered out pretty bad. I do ride pretty aggressively in the corners...
I'm going to stick with the Dunlop Trailmax Missions on the s10. They hold up to the worst I dish out, onroad and off, without compromising on road performance at all.

I don't see how those Dunlops could perform as well as those Michelins . . . . on the street.

I don't know what having an extra 30hp would do to the dunlops on the tenere, but I do know that it feathered the hell out of the Michelins on my old K1200rs. Would I feather the Michelins on my tenere? I don't know. I don't need to find out. I beat the hell out of the dunlops, and they grip the road well.

I went through two sets of road 4, and one set of road 5, on the RS. I'm on my third set of Dunlops on the tenere, and will continue to use them.

Ymmv, but I love mine :D

I wasn't paying enough attention. I was thinking that the Michelins had been used on the Tenere also. It makes sense now. The Beemer had more HP/LBs. Apples and oranges as far as bikes. All that counts is that you like them.

So fitted a pair of Dunlop Mutants recently on my s10, and without doubt the best tire ive ever used, previously had conti sport attacks, road 5, etc, all good but the grip on these is amazing, in rain, mud, you name it, they really are keepers!

Never heard of them so googled - 'crossover tyre' strange looking anyway typed into Dunlop site and it says 'nope' for the Tenere.
Tech is always moving along so i'll be keeping an eye on any reviews around here.

Thanks for the info, Longevity is a biggie for me cuz I'm a cheap bastard
In that case forget pure road tyres. They always cost more and wear out quicker as they have less tread to start with.
Mines on Conti Trail3’s which are great, but I’ve a pair of old style Tourances that will go on next, they were too good a deal to refuse.
Those mutants look great, but dont seem to be around in S10 sizes even though dunlop website suggests they are. However, in new GS sizes they are just about the dearest option, up there with Road5/6’s. Being another cheap b”stard, they’re not something i can justify.

I am a big fan of the Mission Trailmax tire. My last set was 98% highway miles. They wear like iron and have all the traction I have ever needed in the twisties. 70 mph on a 40 mph curve is not a problem. I got 14K out of the rear (it had a least another 1K miles left but was taking a long trip) Front tire I got 17K miles out of it and changed it for the same reason as the rear tire. Probably had 2K miles of local riding left in it.

These are on my radar for when my current tires wear out. How is the road noise on the Mission Trailmax?
