Of course, that battery may have been a bit down on juice, and it was enough to light the neon, but not the lamps themselves. I'll report back.

It's probably just me, but I wouldn't want to drill through a crash bar that relies on its whole circumference for strength. then again, I don't have the OEM set of crash bars so don't actually know if the crash bars already have a bolt in that position.
If there's already a bolt there, good on you, excellent idea. Is it necessary do you think to have 2 sets of bars?

I bought similar set to you but I'm forced to use the plastic mounts, like you I don't like them but in my case, not having the OEM bars, I have to mount the lights on the Givi bars and so have to use them20221120_122558.jpg20221120_122544.jpg20221120_122654.jpg, what a mare!
The brackets, if mounted on a straight bit of the crash bar, are able to grip well, but if mounted on the curved front, are not narrow enough when tightened to grip the bar, and the plastic thickeners make it too tight to do up the bolt.
I can see that I'll have to either thicken the bar with gaffer tape, or file down the plastic thickeners that come with the lamps.
Anyway, positioning is also hassle as when on the givi bars, they're very near the side panel and it might look like they'll have to be moved to get the side panel off for whatever reason.
I might get a fabricator to make something up that's more durable or buy a second set and take one of the mounts with me when doing a longer trip, it might be cheaper, and to boot I'll have a spare set of lamps.
I didn't actually want the lamps for fog purposes, and I'm not a farkler by any means, they are solely for keeping lighting on in the event that one of the main headlight bulbs goes, and I'm in the middle of nowhere (which is where I'm planning to go)

The OEM crash bars have those bolts and that's why i made these brackets. However, I also wanted to install Givi crash bars later, because they give more protection and look good. :)

I also use these LEDs as "daylight", and mounted them quite low...

Yes, when I first read your post there it sounded like you also later wanted to install the Givi crash bars, but I see you already have, it's all in the nuances of language! If only I could write Suomi as well as you write English!
I'm not going to purchase OEM crash bars just to mount the lights, it's worked for you, but it looks over the top IMHO, just me. I'll stick to buying another set to have spare mounts and spare lights, maybe a hammer to crack a nut, but I don't have the time to get involved with more adding stuff to the bike (and weight)

Yep. And off topic... English is definitely not my best skill, but i do my best and i learn more all the time when i try to write... Finnish is easy compared to this! :D

And I admit, that I also have to use a translator. ;)

Here's one way to mount the switch on the handlebar. 22mm hose clamp...

Good idea Jiivee, however, I just attached the switch to the wiring loom (it was too dark to photograph that by the time I had finished).
What I did find though was an answer to the problem of mounting the lamps on the Givi crash bars.
Unlike you, I don't have the OEM bars in addition to the Givi ones, so I have to mount the lamps on the Givis.
One problem (sorta) that I found was that the fairings are not the same width in the vicinity of the front of the Givi bars (see the photo) and so one of the lamps has to be mounted slightly further out from centre than the other one, because it hit the fairing, ruining the symmetry, I'm annoyed by this, but it's not a deal breaker.
Later in the week, once I've doctored the mounts a bit and finally mounted the lamps, I'll post another set of pics.
I did find some nice aluminium brackets that are more sound than the plastic ones, although I'm currently going to use part of them to mount the lamps until I can make my own, again pics will show all.
