Yes, the 2BS in an automatic tensioner.

I really have no experience of the manual CCTs, however I’d have no issue with using one, and I know that many on here swear by them and have had no problems.

Happy to help.
Thank you so much Boris for taking time out of your schedule to help me out

Okay noted thank you kindly Boris. Really appreciate it. Can I hassle you with another question. This is an automatic CCT right? Is the graves manual cct still a good option? It costs about 700-800sgd to do a valve check/adjustment and a cct change.
Based on my recent experience with mine, it seems the startup rattle should only be for 1-2 seconds while the oil pressure builds and stiffens the tensioner. if the rattle goes on longer than 1-2 seconds, then (based on what I found with a recent near-failure) pressure is lost and there isn't adequate tension keeping your timing in check.

I went to an manual CCT because I'm fortunate enough to be able to machine my own, however it seems like the replacement autoCCT from Yamaha has proven solid, but a manual CCT is the way to go when you are out of warranty and need to change it out. I personally wouldn't have changed mine, if it didn't suddenly get really loud on me (mine was the first gen CCT)

edit: i know this is an older topic, but when I was researching, i found far too many "call me and i'll help" rather than actual written knowledge and it made it very difficult to figure out not only what i was listening for, but how to do it. :)

thanks! found that one as well. the nuances of the switch over is the most under-discussed parts, that don't seem to get answered for future generations to know what to do when that time comes. i've done a bunch on other bikes, but for some reason everything I read made it sound like the yamaha was some unique beast, which, it turns out really isn't with this procedure hah

Im probably one that offers to help people for years.. I would rather talk with them over the phone... I talk with SO MANY people, many have no clue...(some folks have no tools and they want to take the engine apart) I can't see or "hear" that in an email. We can cover so much ground over the phone. I for one could do some massive explanation on how to install this but it would be so detailed many people would never read the whole things, or understand all the aspects...

For mechanically inclined folks, this instal is basically like all other similar applications.

might have been you, i read easily multiple dozens of posts but wasn't paying too much attention :D It makes total sense to just ring them up and walk them through don't get me wrong, i was just pointing out that future generations get no benefit from that phone call haha.
I tend to overthink things so I can simplify processes, so even silly things like a tensioner or decompressor turns into 6 prototype's, a proving rig, flow and pressure monitoring, and then the output is basically a plate with a bolt and lock nut. i've put more time into figuring out dynamic oil pressure changes, timing changes due to chain tension across the RPM range for this motor than the time it took to machine the part and put it in place. I even autopsied the failed part, and machined a small plate so I could put oil pressure behind it with a syringe and see how it adjusts and purges overpressure (I'd really like to see what changes Yamaha made in the replacement part, now that I have an idea as to what failed on the old part. i'd like to compare my thoughts with what they did to fix it. but thats what makes OCD/ADHD people tick lol
