venture, thanks for doing this. when were you thinking the voting was going to be done for the other decals? or being produced? i can stick them where the sun doesn't shine!!! hahaha
Very soon I'd think. The stickers from the other thread are going to be reflective, so I have to get some custom quotes for them, hence all the rigor around what folks want. These stickers are just going to be black on white vinyl, much cheaper and I can place the order directly with the vendor without any special quoting or setup work. I'm going to mock up the final sticker in the other thread shortly for feedback and if all is decently agreeable I'll get moving on getting them produced.

I'm in this till the end.....put me down as a 'DIE HARD'. I had already decided that if Yamaha had to cancel the Tenere orders that my 500.00 was a donation to the Japanese people.

I don't post to often but I read all post daily. I have a friend who also ordered an S10 and he's in for the long haul also.

Venture did you get my letter? Thank you for this website and all the work you do.

Shuhite in Oregon.

Well, as they say in my line of business: " Nobody ever gets fired, and we're all too stupid to quit." why change t this point, I'll remain too stupid to quit.

No one has yet to offer something better, so why not?

Will you be camping in the woods at Camp Wood ??

Also, a burning question for which I seen advice. A friend is seriously contemplating the purchase of a Can-Am Sypder, a three wheeler. Should he proceed with said purchase, should I continue to speak to him, and treat him civility ? I wrestle with this conundrum. R

Nah, I'm roughing it at a motel.

I have heard a fair amount of negatives about the Spyder. Everything from reliability to an extreme amount of effort just to steer them around. But, to answer your question - yes - you should continue with whatever friendship you presently have. ;D

Damn. I knew you'd say that. It would have been such fun to ridicule him. I just can't catch a break. I can't even knock his bike over when he's not looking now. R

Just saw this thread today. Thanks, Venture! I'm definitely in it for the long haul. And I'm also very glad to have this forum, and look forward to watching it grow.

Rem - Spyder is very comparable to riding a sled...better tread lightly.

Heh heh. We've been friends for 30 years so he will be expecting a certain level of abuse. Actually, I find the Spyders quite fascinating. I've never ridden one, and I'm led to believe that it takes a fair bit of getting used to. I sat on it yesterday and I can certainly see the resemblance to a snowmobile, at least while still.

I'm gonna try my hand at it soon enough. But I don't think I'll ever be a convert. It is loaded with unspeakable farkles. Very comfortable, too. I told him he had to ride a km behind me so I don't have to explain anything. R

I test rode one at a demo day last year. My brother is hot-to-trot for one since he's afraid of 2 wheels.

Objectively speaking, compared to the experience of riding 2 wheels I felt it was lacking. You sit more on top and are not as connected to it as you are on a motorcycle. If I wasn't already an avid 2-wheeler I would probably have liked it a lot better.

If you want to talk about pure utility, it has a ton of advantages. You can't drop it, rain is no worry, it has a ton of potential for storage, and you can do awesome burnouts (I tested this) without effort. :)

There is a market for it out there, it just depends on what you value in your ride.

I read an article about them last fall. Their popularity is expected to soar over the next few years. It identified two "classes" of potential buyers .... current motorcycle riders who are somewhat uncomfortable on two wheelers ... and .... those who have never biked and never would on a conventional motorcycle. These two categories apparently represent a substantial number of people. I think they have already found a niche. I see more every year. What the heck. More power to them. I'll treat them like regular biking folks. Who knows, I may have to bum a ride home with one of them one day if old BlackWing croaks on me.

Yeah, right .... but you get my drift. R

A fellow in our club has one and complains about the mileage. Low 30's I think.

Yeah, mileage is pretty abysmal. On the bright side, the engine and trans are both gems. Awesome shifting and the Rotax is fantastic.

I think you can view the Can-Am as either the best of both worlds (the excitement of open-air motoring without the stability issues of a single-track vehicle) or the worst of both worlds (the cold/wind/rain exposure and safety issues of open-air motoring without the essential essence of what makes motorcycles exciting - leaning to corner). I am definitely of the second opinion and would much rather be in a Miata, Mini convertible, or S2000 than this Can-Am.

I'm skeptical of three-wheelers in general. They've been tried before tens of times in all guises and none have ever been remotely successful long-term. I'm not sure why this Can-Am should be different. I've seen perhaps two of them in the wild in the last two years and I could see a $20K investment in one worth less than half this in a year or two. There are some serious handling and licensing issues associated with three-wheelers that stacks the deck against them.

As a previous S2K and MX5 owner I'm with you Mark. When I reach the point that I can no longer handle two wheels, our Mustang RagTop will take care of ALL our "in the elements" requirements!!! ;)
