As a former DR owner I appreciate their reliability, simply, and easy to work on nature. I do not appreciate their lousy wheelie ability with stock gearing. Of course you can wheelie anything with the right gearing.

If I were going to ride around the world a DR 650 would be very high on my list of possible bikes to take.

Let me see if I can do a little better...

Like Steve, I also had a WR250

I'd spend lots of time going back and forth giving the front wheel a break...sometimes two front wheels

I won't pretend I have the skills of eemsreno. I know I don't, but I do have some air time on bikes with lights.

I had one before the ST. I did the Cont Divide Ride on it, no panniers as we had a chase vehicle. The oversized tank was a must, had a throttle lock....but now I have cruise. So going without the cruise may be a deal breaker for me. They really are bullet proof, minus the suspension. I guess adding tubeless would be a way to go.

When do we wanna start?

one of KTMs best engine ever........
Maybe so. I know since owning that one I've compared every motorcycle to that 520EXC. Until my latest round of orange bikes, everything else had me missing that 520.
