Not available through Yamaha in the states? Must be that's why the US bikes are less expensive than ours. Pia driving lights package available from Yamaha Canada through any dealer. The Yamaha light kit is meant to be installed directly to the Yamaha engine guard kit. Crazy price in my opinion( $449) is why I chose to go with Denali D2 leds. The off road marked headlamp protector is available in Canada as well. Comes with European packaging.

Ordered the OEM fog-light kit from Yamabits in the UK two weeks ago. The package arrived today, not bad travel time. I'll install in a few days. As others have posted, the kit is very complete and should be an easy install.
Let me know if you want some moral support / flash light holder and I will ride down. I plan on buying the same and would like the experience. Watched Phil during the tail end of his very sanitary install. Very good instructions.

Yea, I'll help! ::013::

Just not this weekend. I'm riding the Tenere to the Indio area this weekend to go race some open wheeled race cars with a buddy. ::015::

Phil have you tested your lights? How do they light the road? Since it is going to be dark for the next five months I am ready to purchase the kit.

Now that I have adjusted them up a bit, they are pretty good. They do a good job of filling in the sharp cutoff left by the stock lights. I would not say that they throw a significant length down the road beyond the stock but they definitely are a worthwhile improvement. Just watch it as those things get HOT!!!!!

If interested in a set of these, my dealer phoned this morning offering me a set they had ordered in for a demo bike at $350 Canadian. They are for various reasons closing shop last day open this saturday.

Installed the foglights today. Was super easy, but needed to do a few things for the "stock" install.

I had to remount my OEM heated grip bracket right-side up in order to get the fog light switch in the correct location on the bar. Also, the rightside upper panel needs to come off. This was in addition to the normal rightside panel. Routing the wires was longest part of the install.

I "aimed" the lights on my garage door. I aimed the pattern between the high and lows. Seems to throw alot of surrounding light out. Not sure how far they shine, but they looked comparable to the factory lows. I was only able to try them out intown tonight.

My normal work commute has me riding out on dark country roads. The high beams on this bike are great, but I wanted lighting to supplement the low beams. These OEM foglights should be perfect for my needs.

So is it safe to say this kit is NOT Dot approved? I'm guessing if it was, stateside dealers would be importing them?

I reckon so. Not sure why but could be: 1) lights stay on with high beams, and/or 2) 55 watts bulbs?

Can you safely use a brighter bulb say OSRAM 65W or PIAA 100W ? Both of those bulbs draw 55W.

I have no idea myself. Maybe someone with better electrical wiring knowledge can answer. The Yamaha instructions don't have any verbiage, just pictures. The section on replacing the bulbs has an exclamation point (!) and "12V55W H7 or H7U" listed.

just wondering since it has been a month since last post if anybody has anymore thoughts about the euro light kits, or any additional light kits for our bikes-? I really want to add to my bike but want to keep it simple. I mean in terms of mounting them.
Thanks all for any input at all ...
best, DT

The Yamaha kit is fantastic!!! It puts great light out and it is completely plug an play. No regrets and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Only cautionary part is to be aware that the lights burn very hot so don't touch them when lit or shortly after. DAMHIK!!!!!!!!!

For alignment, another easy thing, I set the light to ride just on top of the regular headlight beam. This has allowed me to run them even with traffic coming at me without getting flashed. I do have to be cognizant of those I follow though as they tend to think I am cop. They suddenly start doing the speed limit and are looking for their night flip switch on their rear view mirror.

The light spread is more than adequate. I mention this as there is no adjustment within the stock under light mounts for side to side. Only adjustment is up and down.

Hope this helps you spend your money!!! :)

I agree...great kit. But when you take a rock to the lens. Then what? Try and find a repalcement lens for the Yammy OEM kit. It's....f**king impossible. If you buy the OEM fog light kit, put a protective barrier over the lens-es!! Seriously, break one.....then what? Piaa no offer a replacement. So far no help from Yammy Ha...

Thanks you guys. Good thing to think about if a replacement is needed on oem lights.
I would hope they are not hot enough to melt the plastic if mounted close. I was hoping to get a light or two mounted just below the headlight. It seems like there are two holes to mount into ...

I gave up on the expensive unobtanium oem kit and ordered the Denali D2's from twisted throttle. I don't have them yet and do not know when I will get them. That is a story all of it's own. Twisted Throttle told me via email monday 28th they were in stock and ready to ship, I ordered them, recieved a confirmation email and that was it. I called yesterday 29th to see what was up with their website since I could not get a status on my account. I was told by the girl on the phone, "our website is having problems" "they are loading the truck" "your status says shipped" "you should get a shipping email noitce soon" still no email notice as of this morning weds. 30th. I am suspicious to if they ever had them in stock and ready to ship to begin with. This is exactly why I did not pursue the OEM light kit from over seas, people will tell you anything to get your money then oh well ho hum we'll get back with you in a lifetime. I emailed yamabits in the UK and never heard back from them on the oem kit. Needless to say they didn't see a dime of my money. I don't order stuff I don't want or need. When I order I want it shipped ASAP. If it's not is stock I won't order then and there but tell me when it's in stock and I will order then. BTW they hit my credit card ASAP monday the 28th within the hour of the order. YMMV.

This may all be a simple misunderstanding with me and twisted throttle and maybe they think no one needs or wants a tracking number but don't advertise it on your website if you do not plan on doing it. The clock is ticking......

I've never had a problem with twisted throttle until recently when their online form wouldn't accept my Military APO Zip code. I think they need to change whomever provides their e-commerce in a hurry.

Regarding Yamabits...the consensus seems to be that they never answer their emails...they just quietely take your money and ship your item without even letting you know they've charged your card, or shipped you the goods...nothing, zip, zilch, nada! Not even so much as a thankyou email.
