Hey everyone.
I just performed the first oil change on my 2020 S10, and upon completion the oil light is on, and staying on. I did:
I've changed my own oil on my bikes annually for the last 15 years, never had an issue. The only odd part of this one, was the two drain plugs. I know the bike has approximately 3.7L of oil in it, and it's not leaking. I'm panicking wondering if somehow the oil filter is screwed up, and not flowing oil, or I don't know. I'm afraid to run it for more than a 30 seconds or so.
Any advice is welcome, thanks.
I just performed the first oil change on my 2020 S10, and upon completion the oil light is on, and staying on. I did:
- Sit her on the side stand, pull the two drain plugs, and drain the oil after warming the bike up.
- Pull the lower front cowl, and pull the oil filter.
- Wait for it all to drain.
- Install new K&N 204-1 filter, and torque to spec in manual, 13ft-lb.
- Install drain bolts with new crush washers, torque to spec in manual, 15ft-lb.
- Reinstall the lower front cowl.
- Put the bike on the centre stand, and add just over 3.4L of 10w40 esther blend synthetic oil from Bel Ray. This is the same oil I've been using for years, and the same stuff I was running in my Tracer 900.
- At that point I fired it up, no problem, but the oil light is on.
- I panicked a little, and added probably 300ml of oil on top of the 3.4L I already put in.
- Fired it back up, and the oil light is still on.
