Melty dash is certainly a problem with the Tenere stock and touring wind screens. Maybe worse for me since I live in a sunny place and park outside all day. My solution is to cover the wind screen. A helmet bag, the soft one that typically comes with a new helmet, fits perfectly over the small screen. A slightly larger sack, like a book bag, fits over the tall screen. Easy to carry, easy to get on and off.

As to the subject of this thread - farkle remorse, I've been pretty lucky. Researching things on this forum helps a lot! I bought one farkle that I rarely use - V-Stream medium (22") wind screen. I have no complaint about the product itself, being of good quality. It just turns out that I don't like tall screens. I wear it for the coldest month or two because it gets the wind off my shoulders. I have a Wunderlich adjustable wind screen mount that is fine for the OEM shields but not sturdy enough for the 22" screen. That means I have to "hard mount" the big screen and darn it, I'm spoiled for an adjustable screen. The large screen really communicates cross-winds by tugging on the bars in a way that the smaller screens don't. I also don't like looking through wind screens. On the highway, where my vision is focused well ahead, I look over the screen - no problem. On slower goes, especially on tight trails or very twisty mountain roads, where my vision is close in, the screen is distracting.

Anyway, this is not a condemnation of the product, more about the lesson that I had to buy it to figure out my preferences. Ergonomic things are so individualistic that you can trust that your results will be different than other peoples' results.

Touratech Sidestand Foot. Made from very thin stainless steel. It bent the first time the bike rested on it. It also did not come with hardware and I had to get them at the local hardware store. I ordered Touratech crash bars at the same time. They however are excellent! Great craftsmanship, very easy install, took less than an hour and they look great. I cannot attest to their effectiveness. Hopefully I never will.

I've got one for this thread, never even installed it. I bought the Yamaha knee pads for the tank of my '15 ES, the set consists of "bars" of padded material that adhere to the side of the tank. (https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/foam-tank-pad?b=Street+Motorcycle&d=28|28&dealernumber=) The only problem is when I received them I discovered that they are oriented 90 degrees to the paint graphics on this model. I thought that would look stupid, so never installed them. I'm going to look for some clear paint protection film instead, pre-cut would be idea if it's available.

Anyone want the set I bought from Yamaha?

OEM heated grips. I got a decent deal on Ebay ($280), but then paid my local dealer another $100 or so to install them. Had some install issues that had to be cleaned up, but not a big deal (wish I had installed them myself, though). The big disappointment has been the drastically uneven heating between throttle side (scalding hot) and clutch side (lukewarm). Also been more than a few reports of broken wires on the throttle side, although that hasn't happened to me yet. I may try shrink tube under the clutch side grip to even out the heating, but all in all this is a farkle I regret. Cost/performance ratio way too high. Should have gone Oxford or Symtec.
Usually this is caused by the direct contact between the heating element and the bar, causing the bar to suck up the heat on the clutch side. The throttle side has the throttle tube to insulate against this effect.

You can theoretically fix this, by putting a layer of insulation between the bar and the heating element. My buddy used that self sealing Rescue Tape for that purpose and it worked well for him.

PITA job though.

Already fixed. See the last post in this thread:

The hardest part is getting the clutch side grip off without destroying it. I started off jamming a thin flathead screwdriver up under the grip while periodically injecting WD-40. Eventually gave up on that and used a wire clothes hanger after searching the house for something that might work. The hanger made removing the grip a breeze (combined with WD-40 to soften the glue), and the rounded end made sure the grip would not be damaged.

By the way, you're right about the bar sucking the heat on the clutch side, but the grips are supposed to be designed to compensate for that. Oxfords, for example, work great. I don't know what Yamaha's problem was with these.

RAM mount for iPhone. Ordered the kit from Amazon. It came without the tether to hold it on the X-mount. Also the X-mount rubber holders press on the volume buttons. Very hard to use with an iPhone 6.

I also have some clothing regrets. Tourmaster transition4 jacket and the advanced jacket. Both are hot and the rain liners don't breathe. I did buy a leftover Klim badlands pro which I would buy again. Great jacket.

My list includes all the Yamaha accessories that were on the bike when I bought it. Skid plate, crash bars, tall windshield and side cases. Except for the side cases they have all been replaced with aftermarket farkles. I will run the Yamaha side cases until they fall off. Oh well, I got a good deal on the bike, next time I'll know better.

Hmmm... I've been using RAM's X mount with my iPhone 6 with no problems for years now. Sorry you can't make it work for you.!

Tech-spec tanks pads love'em
OEM crashbars (with aftermarket extensions) they'll work for my needs (dirt roads, fireroads, gravelly roads)
OEM skidplate wimpy but I only need it for stones, gravel and such
DSPB Raid toolbox mine doesn't leak as of yet
OEM tall windshield not bad bit didn't work as well as I would've liked. back to stock
OEM winglets like 'em. keeps the turbulence down
SW Motech rack for my tail trunk. Much sturdier than the stock plastic
S-10 spoiler from e-bay. my wind management problems solved!
Datel voltmeter this is the 3rd bike I've used it on. Can't understand why a voltmeter is not on this bike's info screen

next.....a remap in my future

I can make it work, it was just off center and when I centered it, one of the rubber feet hit the volume down button. it works fine on the earlier iphone models like the 5 and 4.

I bought my 15 S10ES with a few farkles already fitted:
oem crash bars and loop
oem headlight covers
oem paniers and top box
powerlet socket on left side
force bash plate (nice and beefy)
laser sports exhaust.

I have OP upgrade remorse in that the powerlet socket is fitted to the left side space under the instruments.

I bought the oem winglets and now the powerlet socket is inaccessable due to the front part of the winglet curving in and over the socket - so it will need to be relocated and a rubber grommet fitted. It's not a biggy as i dont use the socket. OP put it there for using an air pump. My MotoPump uses an SAE tether so I have not needed to use the powerlet yet.
Still it looks funny if you are looking at it - um er wtf!
