Primus makes 0.75 liter fuel bottles similar to the MSR ones. I have used them for long days on the dirt bike. They seem to be pretty leak proof.

I thought of doing a post Don for help. What I did was rent a 10ft uhaul paid the local bike shop to load and tie down the bike and drive the 3,000km in 48 hrs back to Buffalo NY to meet up with my brother in law and loaded the bike on his truck and drive to Toronto. Longest 48 hrs of my life.

Sorry to hear about the leg, Limey. Heal well for next year!

Don't just leave it at "terrible, do not recommend". If you had a specific problem with it, how about going into some detail? Some guys might be considering this as a solution, and your input may be valuable to them (either because they agree with you, or because your issues with it might not be important to them).

location of the "peg" is low to the ground, which can be problematic in tight turns.

more importantly, the overall fit and finish of the product (at least in 2012) was very poor. bracket did not line up properly with mounting point on the frame, had to end up bending parts for it even get close to fitting.

I mounted a rotopax system on my topcase. Fitted a aluminum plate inside the case for stability.

I know this will move the center of gravity up but the first thing I do when travelling is to empty these containers into the fuel tank.

With this system I can have 2 rotopax containers , either 1 or 2 usg capacity each.

itlives: I'm thinking what you do will work for me; temporarily attaching a rotopax to the front of my top box while laying a large duffle across the pillion seat and side boxes. I do not think I want to make permanent attachments for temporary solutions, i.e. rarely do I expect to need to stretch my fuel beyond 230 miles. I have the Yamaha OEM side boxes and top box. Will you post a picture of your setup?

Appreciate the recommendations. I'm thinking I'll have the 2 gal Rotopax temporarily attached on those rare occurances when I need to extend my mileage to nearly 300 miles. Anyone see any hazards attaching it with Rox Straps to the front of my OEM top box?

I don't h1ave a pic of my gas Rotopax on my bike. I have a pic of my water Rotopax but it is on top of the top box. This was before my Grand Canyon trip. It wound up where you are talking about. It pushed the dry bag for ward just enough to make the pillow in the perfect place for my back. I did the SS1000 on that trip. My first try on any long distance.
