Hi Guys,

What are my options for upgrading my suspension on my 2014 ES model?

I have rung a couple of local shops and they say all they can do is disconnect the ES components and install manually adjustable components.

Now i didn't spend the extra $$$ for the ES to be told to upgrade i have to remove it.

I think Jok already owns the bike. Having said that, why would you mess with the ES suspension, why not just go with the standard model and then pay extra for a custom set up?

Assuming he owns the ES already, maybe the springs aren't sufficient for his load. I've read that the ES suspension is better (never ridden a non-ES myself) but it may have the same spring rate which, if you are a heavy guy plus luggage and/or pillion, the springs aren't up to the task.

I was told they are a version of Ohlins parts. I bet other Ohlins parts will retrofit. Touch base with Ohlins or contact us.

I wouldn't doubt that you could have them re-spring and probably re-valve if that's the case.

BE interesting to find out, traditionally the stock stuff is not serviceable, you can change the spring but I don't think you can re-valve it. I just installed an Ohlins on my 2012 mainly because I needed a stronger spring for my fat ass and gear.

In looking at the 2014 service manual on the servicing of the forks, it looks like you just remove the servos and then everything else is just like a non ES fork setup as far as rebuilding, etc. What is different on the ES is one fork controls rebound damping and the other controls compression damping, but that is done with valving, just as the Ohlins setup for the S10 is, so you should be able to tune the valving and springs to suit you. I don't see anything about rebuilding the shock, though.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but,,,,, since one fork is rebound and the other compression, couldn't one change oil viscosities to fine tune rebound and compression? I know it's not as good a revalving but I'm thinking that it could help and it's basically free when changing the oil out anyway. Add a bit stiffer spring and you might be able to make a change for the better for not much more money if one is already in the forks anyway due to normal service.

IMO, the ES suspension could have a smidge less compression and a smidge more rebound. What's the factory fork oil weight???
