Hey Guys found an easy way to flatten the seat today Used two rubber grommets from the luggage area and popped them in the middle holes where stock grommets are to flatten the seat in high position if U prefer lower setting use all 4 grommets middle and back Left the front ones in place As far as the plastic hook stuck a piece of neoprane thats is the same thickness as the new grommets Seat feels much better now! Luggage area grommets are about half thickness as the seat ones

There is another thread out there with pics on how to level the seat using the rubber seat stoppers from another Yamaha motorcycle. I did mine, but didn't care for it. I'll add pics for you.

This should be a sticky in the mods section. Simple. Easy. Works. And best of all it uses parts everyone already has.

I ride on the low setting with a beadrider. The beads always caused me to slide forward because of the slant. Now its perfect.

Thanks, Paul466.

I'll go take some pics and post them.

Keep in mind that my seat has already been changed so the rubber bumpers look different. The ones on the back luggage rack are the ones that came from under the seat and vice versa with the seat. I put my seat bumpers in the luggage rack holes just to keep track of them. May leave them there, may switch them out. Not sure yet. The strings under the seat are just the bungees holding the beadrider on. For the high seat you only swap 2 bumpers.

Take these 4 bumpers off:

And swap them with these 4 bumpers:

The seat is now level:

Pictures looks great and simple fix too. I will try this on my bike and see how it works. Have you been running the seat in the high or low position. I actually favor the high position.

I did the same but ordered extra passenger seat bumpers from the dealer. I also bought some for the rear luggage rack. You can pick them up for about $2 each.

Well... I use to run it on the high setting but when I put my bead rider on it made it pretty tall so I went to the low setting.

This mod worked really well but after a roughly 300 mile day in the saddle I still felt slightly canted forward. So I moved it back to the high setting and replaced the two middle rubbers. But that gave me a rocking chair motion.

So I got ghetto on its ass and cut/sanded pieces of a wooden paint stirrer into shims then ran a small screw down to the top of the plastic hi/low adjustment.

Works like a champ with no rocking but I'd be ashamed if anyone saw it.

I'll be doing a few hundred miles this weekend to put it through its paces. Will report back. ::008::

Only if you bought the same luggage rack, I did not as I wanted to fit a top box.

I'm about to go wrestle with the windscreen rubber grommets from hell to move the screen down. I'll try to snap some pictures while I'm out there.

I thought that part was under everyone's pillion seat?!? I've got the Yamaha top box and it goes behind this portion.

Here's my ghetto-fabuloso shims...

Just used a little wooden paint stirrer like you get from home depot for free. This is just a website that sells them so you know what I'm talking about...

Ideally I'd like to find some plastic stock that I can use in place of these but they'll work till I find something that is a little more pro looking.

Now I understand and will do something similar. Basic and simple, no rocket science involved, I like that. I assume that you did not need to make any modifications for the closing latch.

Nope. You have to push the seat down to latch and unlatch but once you 'feel' it, it doesnt take much.

So I put about 140 miles on this configuration tonight. Its not bad but its not a 100% remedy. I'm thinking it's as good as it's gonna get for free/elbow grease though.

This mod has helped for me. Gives me just, that little extra reach to the ground. However, it didn't help with the numbness in a certain place, like I hoped it would.
