For what it's worth, my plastic tab wasn't loose until I got run off the road. I want down on the right side and the bike flipped over, into a ditch, onto the left side. The good news for everyone with OEM bags is that they held up with the full weight and force of the bike (literally landed on the pannier). The bad news is the plastic tab came a little loose. I'll live with it.
You can also try using a pipe wrench to bend the lower mount out a little. It's easier than heating and bending the mounting brackets and helped mine a lot.

So, I checked out the tab and looky what I found. Now that I'm aware of it, it still looks a little off which I will probably to some more bending. But the washer was definitely not in the right place. Earlier this winter I put my rear seat back on and I had to take off the handles to change over from the luggage carrier mode. The rivets looked tight as well.

Thanks guys. Amazing forum and glad you're ok to CB.

Koinz, great, good to see you found what I suspected. Funny your left pannier is still a bit off like that; once I fixed the washer thingy, my left was as level as the right. In any event, I don't think that big bolt seats properly if the washer isn't in the notches, so it will be secure now I would think.

It's definitely straighter than it was. It's probably how it's always been, but now that I noticed it, it'll be an OCD thing and I'll have to get it right. Maybe my ADHD will kick in and I'll forget about it. :D not too concerned about it. Could call though. Thanks.
