Cancer Likes sugar and fat. Sugar is essentially carbs. I reversed type 2 diabetes and greatly mitigated prostrate trouble via diet.

We have gotten heavier and unhealthier as a country. (World wide really)

If you step back from it all it starts to make sense. We for the most part could not cut it in the wild. I meet a 23 old young lady who was obese and had already had a heart attack. 12 year olds are developing diseases that use to be relegated to the old.

Look at how fussy we are with Gas Octane and oil. What you put in counts. For us too.

Back in my 30's and 40's when I lifted weights regularly, I was 5'10" and weighed about 240. I also routinely bicycled. I had a 48 inch chest and a 38 waist; I have no idea what my BMI would have been measured at, but by most height/weight charts I was probably about 50 or 60 pounds overweight. And at that point I was probably in the best shape of my life since my days in the Army.

I have found though that in the past decade, doctors rarely mention weight. The first time one of my doctors brought up my weight was prior to the surgery, and that was mainly because the extra weight could complicate the DaVinci surgery.

You may have no intention to start an argument, but that's what a post like this is likely to do. I didn't battle with "so called" cancer; I had cancer. It was real, and it was life threatening. And I'm alive because of trained professionals and medical science, and theirs was most certainly not a "limited response".

My feelings aren't hurt. My point still stands; this is not the appropriate place for this discussion, as I'm no doubt sure the mods would agree. Discussions of religion, guns and politics are discouraged in the general forums, because they immediately become divisive and derail threads that previously may have been productive. You may be able to start a post about religion and your views on so-called cancer in the Debate room on this topic, if the mods are cool with that.

This!

It looks like bluebuick already left the group. Even so (and it’s hard to believe this even needs to be said) do not start a religion thread as it will be immediately nuked.

While I and probably the majority here have strong religious convictions, some do not and that is their choice. We also have people of every faith here. A religious thread is going to instantly become a screaming match of trying to force a set of beliefs on others.

I think most people in this world would have either had the journey with cancer, or had the experience of that journey through a loved one, a friend or a family member who has. This has been a great thread sharing those experiences. I appreciate the work of the mods to keep the focus on the topic and remove the potential for religious debate. I'm sure there are plenty of other forums where those debates can be found but I've never looked for them.

An older thread, but I don't sign in too often.
As a physician, I've seen people die of many different problems. It seems like we will most likely pass from cardiovascular disease (heart/stroke), cancer, or mental deterioration. Unless you have a strong family history for one of the above, it's a crap shoot. I've always tried to follow the philosophy "everything, in moderation". In my 70s now, and waiting for the shoe to drop. Enjoying good health (while it lasts).
Congratulations on the good outcome from the prostate CA.
