Do the pegs touch before the bags?

I have had the Tenere for 2 weeks now, and I have scraped both pegs (on a closed course, of course). O:)
Day before yesterday, I mounted a set of Jesses Odyssey II bags and I'm afraid they may touch down before the pegs. That would really suck because the Jesses are really nice, not to mention that the bags will lift the rear wheel and create a major pucker moment or worse. Please spare me all the safety and technique responses because I am fully aware of both. I just want to know if anyone else has touched a peg down on a Tenere with the bags on.

I have sw-motech pegs, with the feeler nipples and have scraped without scraping my Micatech cases. A person riding behind me said it was close, but I think that was an illusion.. ::025::

my pegs touch before my trekker 33L's do. here's the metric dimensions - 411 cm x 526 cm x 230 cm - the 230cm is the depth out from the givi rack which is really tight so you can have an idea based on your jesse's.

By the way Twisty, just an FYI.

I just went out and pulled my OEM pegs out of the box and the right peg did NOT have a peg feeler on it. Left side peg YES, Right side NONE.

I did today with these cases on. Pegs touch, cases don't.

That's the way they come. Been theorized that there is a feeler on the left because the centerstand is more prone to grounding on the left.

Have touched down pegs quite frequently... never touched down an OEM bag.

Mine is the same, noticed on my three week a few months back, but forgot to ask the reason for this.

Thanks for all the responses. The wife and I are going up to the mountains of North GA, East TN and West NC for the next 4 days and I was concerned. I guess I will proceed cautiously.

Maybe I will see you around. Ran across two guys on Super T's Monday on the parkway and saw them again today on another NC road. Turned around and ran them down. We spent the next 3 or 4 hours riding some on the back roads around Lake Lure.

I guess I'll stop if I see an S10 then and save you the hassle of having to run me down. ::26::

My SW Trax are OK when the pegs grind ::008::

I always run an extra line of pre-load solo which makes quite a big difference to how soon the pegs touch (and provides a nicer steering response) and for two-up run the pre-laod at max - but it still decks real easy.

I was hoping to have a ride height adjuster on my new shock (Wilburs) but I can't have both this and a pre-load adjuster so I am going for a 2mm longer shock which raises the back end about 5mm (same as my extra line of pre-load) to start with, it will also have a stiffer spring so should keep the pegs much further away, especially two-up (it will also have a much wider pre-load range and better damping)

You could also add pre-load to the front, I am also having the forks re-worked at the same time and will let the pro's sort the whole setup for me to start with.

Well, after 4 days in the mountains running 2-up and fully loaded up and back (we left our stuff at camp the rest of the time), I am proud to announce that I did not scrape any powder coating off my panniers, despite some moderate peg dragging. However, I did have the pre-load maxed out. I'm thinking about putting a stiffer spring on the stock shock because I didn't have the Jesse's topcase. The panniers were in stock, but the topcase will come next week. I'm thinking the extra weight on the back may be too much for the stock suspension.

I drag everyday.. I don't touch my boxes to the ground tough.. I have ruined Red Wings work boots though dragging the toe and the side of the boot on the ground.. I'm going to try and send them in to get a new sole put on... I have the stock suspension full stiff on the rear and 97% full stiff on the front.. And on K60's Love this bike ! ::008::

Like Tabasco, i run mine fully preloaded, with or without the passenger. I scrape a lot, but 33 lit trakkers are nowhere close.

The 9" wide Happy Trail Tetons don't drag. (240lb. rider, Tourances, solo and almost full pre-load.) Like Jaxon, the boots (13 4E Clown sized flippers ??? ) are taking a hit though... :)
