I have never had much luck getting demo rides at large events.
Yep, same concern I have after seeing the locations/events on the demo schedule. I'm still figuring they are going to be hitting smaller dealers here and there. Time will tell if I'm right.

The Triumph demo truck is rolling into my local dealer this weekend, but I have to sit in class all day :'( . I was hoping to get a ride on a Rocket III as well as the new 800 Tiger just for grins. I really want to know what the Rocket III's massive motor feels like.

I was rained out of the demo ride in Cali, so I'm glad to see it coming to AZ Bike Week! I will actually be in town next week too, so I hope to take advantage and get some seat time on the Super Ten...

Burleson Texas is the closest for me, a mere 3 hours and 41 minutes per mapquest......unless I ride the Wee Strom. I can make it there in just over 3 hours.. ::) C:)

Does anyone know if Yamaha demos are usually first come first serve the day of the event, or possibly a sign up in advance? I'm considering riding 3+ hours to the Roanoke, VA show. I would hate to get there and find out all the slots were filled before I ever arrived. The website linked on the Yamaha page is more or less useless. I'm thinking I'll call the local dealer, but thought someone here may know the answer.

Found it. :p If Triumph interests you, they do have a nationwide schedule for test rides. Signed up for July!

Yes, all of the events that I have gone to are a first come first serve. In some cases, they have closed demo events due to poor attendance. They almost did that the last day of Daytona this year, so I was told. At the last minute decided to open street class only. I have left my house at 4:00 AM to catch the demo's in be one of the first 10 in line. It's worth it though, cause the demo ride satisfied me for another month. But that was 3 weeks ago...

I'm going to show up around 9:30. The demos start at 10.

I really want a Super 10. However, I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to trade both of my bikes and "suffer" with just one!

As an aside, I test rode a Ducati Multistrada 1200 two weeks ago at Eurosport's Open House. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the motor. However, I HATED the seating position. I felt cramped by the passenger seat. I was disappointed.

My current rides:

2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS

2009 Buell 1125 CR

Kidder, NIIIIIICCCEEEE Buell! I had my eye on the 1125cr for a bit right before the demise of Buell, but practicality overcame me and I went another direction. I always secretly hoped they'd put the Rotax 1125 into the Ulysses and add in ABS. One day I may pick up an XB12SS if I can find one cheap, I always loved that one as well.

I was one of the ones who took advantage of the demise of Buell. I wasn't even in the market for a new motorcycle. But, when I saw them discounted for $6k off, I jumped on one. I even had to drive to Memphis, TN to get it. By the time I had heard about the deep discounts, the majority of dealerships in my area were completely out.

I've done a few mods to it. I added a Powerlet for my GPS and also installed the Uly pegs (1" drop).

Thanks, Clem. I talked to the local dealer today, and they think it will be first come first serve, but suggested checking back a few days before the event just in case. The dealer said he is setting up his own booth next to the Yamaha truck outside the Convention Center. He anticipates sign-ups will happen at the Yamaha truck. That's good because I really wasn't interested in going into the show. Based on the web site it looks like a big Harley gathering type event, which isn't my thing.
