Delivery Dreaming!!!

The change from metric to imperial instrumentation is available on all Teneres.

Based on the differences between Canada and US FJR 's Canada will likely be getting the European model with the built in security system.

Canada's PDP orders for motorcycles are likely in the range of 5-7 % of US PDP orders, so filling it first from the European production line is a simple task. US bikes, and California bikes need more production time due to the size of the PDP run.

I read somewhere that one of the problems with the U.S. spec bike was the supplier of the dash.
Since the Canadian bikes have a metric dash, maybe their units dont have that parts supply issue they can be delivered before the U.S. bikes, makes since to me.

My apologies, I did not post this letter to pee off fellow members. I to was dreaming of having this bike by June as the wife and I have 3 weeks vacation booked for the end of June beginning of July, Heading to the Grand Canyon then to California then north to Vancouver Island then home back through the states. I still have my 04 road glide and the wife on her 2000 soft tail (with 150,000 kms) I did have the road glide sold but backed out when I was told about the delays.

Holy sh*t, just got a reply from Yamaha Canada. My dream just turned into a nightmare, I am looking at the worse case scenario. This is the reply they sent.

Hi Mr. Cochrane, the deposit refund is offered if Yamaha cannot supply the
bike by August 31. Your bike order will be cancelled at that time and we
will offer a $100 Yamabucks certificate that may be used towards the
purchase of another Yamaha product or parts and accessories.

Limey, I suspect that is just standard cover your butt terminology. End of August would be worst case, just like November in the states. I think Yamaha fully expects to achieve delivery prior to that. They could have another earthquake or whatever, so they have included the drop dead delivery date thing. I still believe we will see ours in July.

I don't think your posting the letter should have upset anyone. It's information. Not to worry.

Weather finally turned good here this week. Supposed to be 66 today. I'll have to get nekked before I can ride my bike. R

This makes me wonder how many Super Teneres were sold under the PDP program in Canada. If the dealers had decided to order some PDP bikes using "family names" and are bailing on those bikes now - why would they want bikes they have to pay for arriving at the end of the riding season.

The Canadian bikes we have heard will have the European "red key" security system and if supply is low on the European bikes why not just fill the orders in Europe and give Canada the Super Tenere next year with no PDP. Yamaha has an idea as to what the level of demand is in Canada and they could always offer the cancelled PDP buyers a "special deal" for a 2012 Tenere with delivery in April 2012 and put them at the front of the line for bike delivery.

Does anyone know what the numbers of PDP orders were for Canada and the US ?

If I was an executive for Yamaha Canada this would be an option I would be considering.

This is the response i got from Yamaha Canada.

Hello Mr. Cochrane, thank you for your email. At this time, I am unable to
divulge the number of these units that have been pre-sold in Canada. We
will keep you updated as new information on the delivery of your Super
Tenere becomes available.

Thanks again for your patience and we'll be in touch.

Patience, Grasshoppers. As the winds of confusion blow mightily throughout the land, we seek, and have found, the oasis of serenity and peaceful contemplation. Even as we dip daily into the Forum of Fulfillment, we grow stronger and more confident in the ultimate outcome. The Desert Prince rolls eastward, even as we commune. He seeks his home amongst the mountains and river valleys that are the Yukon, and other less fulfilling terrains. His vinyl clad palace awaits him.

I watch the western shore with eager anticipation. Soon, Grasshoppers, soon. Despair not. The great metal horse has begun his journey. Prepare yourselves with numerous farkleizations, make ready and your day will come. Save your baubles and other quasi-precious condiments, and be prepared to secure the petroleum based sustenance that he will require in great quantities. This is the time to plan and prepare for his arrival.

Make peace with the denizens of your current stable, for they will be homeless soon enough.

Walk softly, and carry a big wallet. The exchange is imminent. Ride well. R

Somewhat unrealistic...ST riders don't carry umbrellas, we accept being wet...though most of us are that young and handsome, I am anyway
