Just got back from out of town, so I hadn't had a chance to comment yet, though I did catch a glimpse of this thread shortly after it was posted. Honestly it didn't really phase me. As mentioned before, I have so much fun on any bike, including the one I have, that waiting a bit longer to add another to the garage doesn't bother me in the least. It will give me more time to save up and pay more, or all, of the payment in full at pickup rather than getting a loan and paying interest.
It will also make my wife happy in a round about way. She wanted to go spend a couple weeks someplace warmer than Montana next Dec. or January and when I saw the delay, I said "The bike isn't coming in until around November. I guess we'll have to trailer the bikes someplace warm so we can ride this winter because I'm not waiting until Montana spring to ride it". Well, she smiled.
As others have, I've believed from the beginning that this will be the cheapest price we will see on this bike. Almost like an introductory price. I've watched the WR250R go up a couple hundred dollars a year. Since it was introduced in 2008 at $5,890 and the 2011 is now $6,490...a 10% gain over only 4 model years. The rough equivalent of the Super Tenere going up $500/year. Plus, many dealers are willing to give a bit more discount on a PDP bike knowing they are ordering a sold bike rather than a floor model that might sit for a month or two and that they have to pay Yamaha interest on.
So who knows if the price will remain the same or go up, but we know it won't be going down. I think the price I paid is a tremendous deal for the caliber of bike I'm getting, so I'm happy. There is no question in my mind that I want this bike, so I'll stay on the list as long as it takes. There is nothing else on the market, in this category, that I want as much as this bike. As mentioned in another thread, 'availability' doesn't weight into my decision on if a bike is right for me. It either is or isn't and just because it won't be here mid summer doesn't make this the wrong bike for me. Easy decision.
