Well, I didn't think I heard anything, but I did read a report on ADV this morning. A bit of quick research proved it to be false and I reported the same. Just trying to clear up some BS that came from a Yamaha salesman before it got spread too far.

Over and out.

And I appreciate it. All of the uncertainty has fueled many imaginations, which keep coming up with more and more dire things, and we're all doomed. We are, we really really are.

It actually is amazing just how NOT forthcoming Yamaha has become in just about everything. Actually, I'm not sure if it is Yamaha, or just the US branch. I have heard from several dealers that dealing with corporate Yamaha is not something they feel they get much from. Years ago, I worked at a Yamaha shop, and we were kept up to date on everything: new products, tech problems, machine availability, you name it. The sales and service team, and most of the office staff could give accurate info on most things, all of the time. I spoke to the "accessory guy" when I went to see the S10 for the first time, and it was pretty much a one way discussion. I'm sure that fuel stabilizers and other such things are important, but you (or at least I) would think they would want to know what their customers think. He basically gave me reasons why not for everything I brought up. I'd say that is a top-down attitude. If I felt I had to rely on the company after the purchase, I'd probably have gone to another manufacturer. The same dealers that remark about a lack of traction with Yamaha say nothing but nice things about Triumph. If they made something I wanted, I'd probably have a Triumph instead.

But it is giving the wags plenty to generate and distribute! In some ways, I find rumors amusing. I fact check everything that I feel is important enough to get upset about. I am on someone's e-mail chain, and you should see some of that stuff. Most is hogwash, at best. Most rumors are.

Just got back from out of town, so I hadn't had a chance to comment yet, though I did catch a glimpse of this thread shortly after it was posted. Honestly it didn't really phase me. As mentioned before, I have so much fun on any bike, including the one I have, that waiting a bit longer to add another to the garage doesn't bother me in the least. It will give me more time to save up and pay more, or all, of the payment in full at pickup rather than getting a loan and paying interest.

It will also make my wife happy in a round about way. She wanted to go spend a couple weeks someplace warmer than Montana next Dec. or January and when I saw the delay, I said "The bike isn't coming in until around November. I guess we'll have to trailer the bikes someplace warm so we can ride this winter because I'm not waiting until Montana spring to ride it". Well, she smiled.

As others have, I've believed from the beginning that this will be the cheapest price we will see on this bike. Almost like an introductory price. I've watched the WR250R go up a couple hundred dollars a year. Since it was introduced in 2008 at $5,890 and the 2011 is now $6,490...a 10% gain over only 4 model years. The rough equivalent of the Super Tenere going up $500/year. Plus, many dealers are willing to give a bit more discount on a PDP bike knowing they are ordering a sold bike rather than a floor model that might sit for a month or two and that they have to pay Yamaha interest on.

So who knows if the price will remain the same or go up, but we know it won't be going down. I think the price I paid is a tremendous deal for the caliber of bike I'm getting, so I'm happy. There is no question in my mind that I want this bike, so I'll stay on the list as long as it takes. There is nothing else on the market, in this category, that I want as much as this bike. As mentioned in another thread, 'availability' doesn't weight into my decision on if a bike is right for me. It either is or isn't and just because it won't be here mid summer doesn't make this the wrong bike for me. Easy decision.

Learned a little something today.... take it for what you will....

The letter telling customers that bikes will be delivered by November is the best guess they have right now... And what I mean is that from what I understand all orders SAY they will be in the dealer November. There goal is to have them all out by November... There is a GOOD chance that the first orders will be out before. They have a safety blanket if you will by not promising the early guys that you will have it by XX-XX-XX date.. They are now just telling everyone November... Again, I was told that there is a good chance of the first batch being here before then, but there are just to many 'what-if's' over there so they are playing safe........ Other thing this person said is its NOT likely that the first bikes will be showing up in Nov, they said it would be before...... I will know more next week........................ Just my little $.02

Well said. Exactly how I see the situation.

Life is too short to ride the wrong bike. If the right bike is available by waiting a few extra weeks why would you walk away?

Wait...there is a wrong bike?
Many...

Sold my FZ1 after 6 months
Sold my first Wee Strom after 5 months
Sold my Wife's XT225 after 3 weeks
Sold my FJR after 2 weeks
Traded a brand new GS500 after 4 days.

Made money on some, broke even on others, lost a lot on the trade. Such is life, no regrets. If I'm not going to ride it I'm not going to keep it. When I say life is too short to ride the wrong bike, I really mean it.

Whoa m8 ... that's some burn rate. That falls into the category of .... "I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure"

Really though ... I don't blame you .... if a bike ain't right, it just ain't right.

I know. Fortunately all of those except the GS were purchased used and at a very reasonable price, so the financial damage was small. The GS was my welcome back to a bike after a 10 year hiatus. While searching for a bike for my wife a dealer was able to tell me several paces I could find some local dirt to ride. So traded in the street only bike for a KLR650 and my wife's Super Sherpa and away we went. Kept the KLR for 5 years. That's my longest lasting bike so far. I've had my DL1000 almost 4 years, thought that was going to beat the KLR, but then came the S10...we'll see what happens.

I've not gotten the official letter yet. I'm still going back and forth from day to day about bailing out or staying in. ::) So I guess it depends on which waffle side I'm on by the end of May :D.

Big Yamaha Canada announcement expected tomorrow, Friday. My dealer was informed by his regional rep to expect this announcement. Not sure why YC would wait until now, but I guess tomorrow is the day. I'll let you know. I have decided that I must simply take the bull by the tail and face the situation.
