Ok it's kind of obvious now that it doesn't matter when you ordered your bike, we will all be getting a letter eventually (6 today so far) offering a way out or delivery by the end of Nov.
(Note: If you have never received any letters from Yamaha prior to today regarding your Tenere, if you never received a "order number", I would have a serious talk with your dealer.)

So the only factual info we got is deliveries begin in JUNE and end in NOVEMBER.

I'm embarassed to admit some how I convinced myself my bike would be one of the ones to come in May and then later, after the Novemeber letter story, assumed it wouldn't show until Nov. (silly me) but now I realize it will probably come sometime in between.... And I feel better about that. :)

Not to beat this dead horse, the only factual info is we can cancel orders by May 31 and receive our deposits back.

"Based on the most recent production and supplier updates from Japan, we expect to finish deliveries of Super Ténéré PDP orders by November 30, 2011. (italics mine).

Due to this production and delivery delay, Yamaha is providing your Priority Delivery Program customers the opportunity to cancel their PDP order and receive a full refund of their deposit."

NOTE: Yamaha believes we are customers of the dealer; Yamaha Japan is a manufacturer, Yamaha US is a distributor and we purchasers have a sales relationship with a retailer. I'm not even sure Yamaha Japan or US even knows we exist, and won't until we have purchased the bike, transferring ownership from the dealer.

I don't know how you figured out they will begin in June. Mine was one of the very first ordered on Sept 1 , the lowest order number on this forum, and the date in the YDS system which was originally May had been changed to June a couple months ago. Our dealer ordered 3 that same time, all had been showing June. He ordered two later and they had been showing July. Right now, all of them show Nov delivery.

Ordered 7 Sept., scheduled delivery before tsunami was July, received phone call from dealer yesterday (4/26), have not yet received letter from Yamaha about delay, but I figure it'll come in the next few days.

I'm basing this on the information Yamaha has provided (or at least still advertizing). "Deliveries begin in June" (changed from May) and letters to buyers/dealers..."Deliveries finished by November 30th."

That "deliveries begin in June" no longer applies and I am sure they will correct their advertising soon. All that the letters to dealers and customers say for sure is that production and delivery has been delayed and they expect that will finish deliveries by Nov 30. As I mentioned, the Yamaha Dealer System that your dealer can access on his computer shows the expected delivery dates of each bike ordered and as of last week they all show Nov. I really, really wish you were right about June, as mine is one of the lowest order numbers in the US, but its date has changed from June to Nov on Yamaha's delivery schedule.

I got my letter today too. The most interesting part of it was that Yamaha spent $4.95 to send it to me Priority Mail from LA. It got here in 2 days. A regular stamp would have done the same thing for a whole lot less money.

Do you think they will deliver all US orders to all the buyers between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30?

All I know is that all orders are showing Nov delivery and Yamaha USA "expects" to finish deliveries by Nov 30.

This would be why there are sequential order numbers across the country?? Contact your dealer. He will confirm that your deposit is being held by Yamaha, not the dealer. You misread of the contract you entered into when you gave your deposit and that is causing you way too much anxiety. Unsubstantiated posts such as yours are causing unneeded anxiety in others.

Relax and have a beer. The bikes will come when Japan gets back on their feet.

Last count: 13000 dead, 15000 missing.

Pray for these people.

With all due respect: My contract states "Yamaha of Louisville". Who placed the order for the ST within the Yamaha ordering system, ordered by his dealership. That mc will be mfr'd and sold to that dealer, when the MC leaves the port of entry. Once at his dealership, as certificate of transfer is processed, ownership is then transferred to the purchaser. When it arrives, anyone of us may choose *not* to accept delivery, potentially forfeiting deposit, and that mc remains the property of the dealer who may put it on the floor, sell it to another dealer or crush, if he so chooses.

I will receive it, when I receive it...right now, Yamaha Japan will be making best effort to do that by end of November...I hope that is true....but to your point, given the destruction and upheaval affecting Japan, that may or may not happen, not because Yamaha doesn't want to, but because we can't even begin to understand the impact of this tragedy.

My point earlier was that the only facts known, are: Orders may be cancelled and deposits returned by May 31 and Yamaha is making every effort to deliver all STs by the end of November. These are the facts from the letter sent to my dealer, forwarded to me, by that dealer.

Hey, I'm in Diamond Springs!!

Ordered March 5, 2011 through Roseville Yamaha. Received my letter from the manufacturer yesterday, April 27, 2011. Exact same as has been posted here. Dealer called the very next morning after seeing the delay update on here.
