not bad, especially for the price. I am looking at the altrider bars, paying a premium for me is ok when made in the USA.

I'm in for the SA bars if they ship to the US for a nominal fee. Hell, I'm buying a Japanese bike!

I have also bought ALTrider bars, but those from South Africa really look nice. Good lines and beefy enough to do the job.

Those look like very good crashbars with a smart design. I want to see more angles in pictures. I also like the mounting of the bashplate on the crashbars to avoid the cracked case issue seen with bashplates that mount to the engine. I would buy them in the states or in SA. Where doesn't matter. Only how good is the design, how well are they made, and are they "fairtrade". Support quality and efficiency worldwide!

The Ulysses was a great USA bike that no one here bought. Now we are waiting for a Japanese bike. Pay your money where it is working the hardest to get your business.

I was considering other bars, but for the price and design these are now the most interesting!

Actually these are very pricey. The 2 over by the R is part of the price. With that factored in the price is $416.

Those are some serious looking bars - but then for $416 they should be. I would expect them to be fairly heavy too.

That price includes the skid plate. Now, I don't know what the import/shipping fees might be...might be a deal breaker.

These are the bars Yamaha should have built. Total engine/side panel protection and a bash plate that is not going to destroy the engine if hit.

Not a bad price at all for the "package"!

Now that I look at the picture harder, the crashbars look like they are already making contact with the right sidepanel. Maybe it is just an illusion, but looks like that would abrade the surface pretty quick even on the black sidepanels.
Hope these can be manufactred with more gap to avoid rubbing and allow the right panel to come off and allow enough space for the left panel to be removed enough to loosen the fasteners to tilt the tank up.

Kind of a combo between a dune buggy roll cage and a bumper car. There does appear to be a bolted connection between the upper bar section and the lower cage that would allow maybe quicker access to the top panel removal. Still a little over the top for me

Rick,

Thanks for finding that link to more pictures.

After looking at those pictures, although it seems like an awesome rollcage design, the upper bars are too close to the side cover at several points. Even a drop in soft dirt will flex the bars in a little bit and they will hit the side-covers. If they had more space they might be the way to go, but right now they look too close to (or touching) the bodywork.
