Fitted TA3s to mine a few weeks back. Had TA2s on my old GS for some years and loved them. Was always going to go Conti on the S10. Loved Michelins on the Pan(Pr2s and Pr3s) had quite a few sets on that, and have fitted them to my FJR too (Pr3 front and 2 rear). But have heard quite a few reports of the 5’s wearing quickly. I also prefer a chunkier looking tyre on an adv bike, road tyres just don’t look right, although I will admit the TA3s don’t look that chunky in truth. Only done about 350mile so far, so just nicely scrubbed in. Compared to the OE B’stones, the TAs steer much quicker. I’d obviously not realised how much effort the B’stones were taking to turn. First turn in the road off my estate nearly had me on the deck, the ease to tip the bike was so different I oversteered to an almost scary degree. Took most of that day to get use to the lightness, but now I’ve adjusted I’m loving them. No going back to the B’stones for me.
Looking at the pressure chart above, I think I’m running a bit over pressure too.

I know the thread is a tad old…

My PR5 tires are coming to an end. Have about 5,200 miles on them now and have a little left to hit the west bar. The downside, like others have stated, is the front tire is deformed at this point and I’m going to replace both front and rear. I loved the handling and confidence of them. Worse comes to worse, I’ll pay the price and install them again.

@bimota - did you put on the Trail Attack 3 tires? If so, what are your thoughts?

Looking back at my post above, I fitted the TA3s at just before the 6000 mile service. At a bit over 12000 mile I replaced the rear with a new one for a trip to Valencia, the one I took off maybe had 500mile to go. Currently the bikes now just over 18000 mile, waiting for it’s next service. The second rear still has a good few mm left, enough for a trip to Scotland next month. The front, although it’s a rather strange shape, is still riding ok. I’m kind of expecting it to go off at any time, but its done 12000mile. Thats 50% more than I’ve ever got from any other front on any bike in nearly 30 years riding. Makes for Bargain tyres, the pair cost £225, the single rear £145, so £370 for over 12000 mile.
They grip like glue in all conditions, I’ve scraped pegs/stand in the twisties in Spain. No chicken strips either.
I’ll be replacing them after my Highlands visit in a few weeks time, as the following week I’m back up there for two weeks with the wife, so I‘ve a pair of Tourances I’ve had in the loft a while, and really must use them before they get too old. I’ve then got another pair of TA3s waiting, just couldn’t refuse a deal on BlackCircles a few weeks back, £235 for a pair.
I’ve got my Pan back in use, so hopefully they’ll all last a bit longer now.

Wow! Can't believe I totally missed this one. Sorry for the repetition request.

There not if you get two rears to one front like I have. Michelins are generally over £300 a pair, the new 6’s nearer £330-350. Bikespeeduk have the TA3s at £255 delivered last I looked, so already cheaper.
to late now , they were 18 months ago when this thread was started , that was over 18 months ago

I'll just throw this out since I see no mention, but they may not have been available when this thread was started. The Dunlop Trailmax Missions now seem to be the go to tire for mileage and handling whether on or off road. Read up on some reviews, and see if they might be for you.

A mate on a tiger fitted them for our Valencia trip last November, took them off and sold them on as soon as he got back. Was always the slowest of the group, just didn’t have the confidence in them that he had on Michelins like he’s gone back to now.
I can see the’re great if you have to or choose to ride gravel tracks as well as tarmac, but more rubber touchng the road will always grip better.

Dunlop do seem to be flooding the advanture market atm. With the Missions, Meridans, Mutants, Raids, Mixtour and the road based Roadsmarts All available in adventure sizes

Have you not tried the TAs? I can see no reason to blow the extra cash on the Michelins, even though I’ve used them on many bikes in the past, and do like them.

I have been a confirmed Michelin fan for years on every bike I’ve owned and ridden since 2005. II had PR5s on my S10 and loved them, but back last November, there were tales of issues with the PR6 tyres, so I thought I would try Conti TA3s. I was afraid that I would be wasting my money but I have to say, the Conti have been excellent. The turn in is quicker than PR5s, the Michelins being more progressive and neutral, but the grip of the TAs is every bit as good on any tarmac that I have ridden on since November 2023 when they were fitted. I can certainly recommend them for road use.

I almost forgot this...
Nothing bad to say about these tires. The TA3s are very comfortable and reliable in all conditions, and quiet too. The tires have been driven for about 6,000 km now, and there is still a lot of tread left. I can definitely recommend them to those who drive mostly on paved roads. I'm now back to 50/50 tires because I plan to ride the rest of the season mostly on gravel roads in Finland.

Post up when you max out mileage on the TA3’s.

I am on my second set.
First set 13500 km very good in all conditions.
Wet or dry it didn't matter....
On my second set I have 9000 km and it looks like I will probably do more than the previous one but I have done ( unfortunately) more motorway/highways on the this one.
Usually I don't drive fully loaded but this time I was for about 8000 km and didn't notice any difference.
They might be a little be pricey but well worth it in my opinion.
That's is just my opinion obviously.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. If only they would live for 20K km I could get a season out of them.

I just returned from 4K km+ trip to dragon, (fromOntario)

There is now 22K km on the TMM tires and I think I will see 30 K out of them ( the rear was squaring off some but round profile is now back)

If only they were a little more compliant on small sharp pavement seams. This beats up my bad back over time
