This "Lane Filtering" Bill just became LAW.

I would suggest to study the exact wordage, and if you choose to partake, to do so according to the Rules.
Maybe keep a copy of the Signed Bill PDF somewhere in your carried documents in case confronted?

This is both amazing and terrifying. I assume that the general public awareness will be near zero for quite a while. Given how entitled most people feel, there will be a lot of BS and dangerous behavior happening by people in cars who see motorcycles "cutting" through traffic.

I was reading on a different forum that the actual effective date of the law is uncertain. It could be now, but it's probably 90 days from yesterday, August 7th.

(For me alone)..... This falls in the life category of: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...... WAY to many people dont want you to "cut" and willl simply open there door, or pull over to crash you.... And then they will be the first on the phone to police and the insurance company, along with there attorney... WOW- that all sounds worth saving 2 minutes.. LOL (FOR ME)

Yes, awareness will take some time for the general public to catch-on......
It does not seem to be a huge issue in other States that have adopted this.

This "Activity" is not about saving time at all.................Nor is it about just being able to cut in front of the cars "just because you can"
This is solely about rider safety.
The likelihood of getting struck from behind by someone who is not paying attention while you are stopped at the back of a line of cars, is far greater than any likelihood of you getting into a collision while you are filtering between stopped cars.
If someone is dumb enough to open their door against you, or pull over to crash you on purpose, things are not going to bode well for them when the Police do show up for said incident.

This is a non-issue in all the other States that have adopted it.
I have filtered before in States that allow it...................and I've even filtered in States that do not..
People are going to have to get used to it sooner or later anyway, as it will likely be Nationwide eventually.

It would be best to get clarification on the exact Date that this goes into effect.
It was signed into Law yesterday, but still may be 90-days before it goes into effect?

I won't matter if they know about it or not. They'll try and block you any time they can. Frequently, when I'm exiting from one of our highways to another, I put on my signal to turn right and go down the shoulder. And there will be one, or two, that will move over onto the shoulder a bit. Most of the time there's still enough room on the pavement to get by. If not onto the dirt and get past. And yes, I wave at them with my favorite finger.

A few years back, our version of the law was actually on the books, with an effective date. But apparently, they were counting their chickens before they hatched; it never was approved. So, it died on the vine.

This has actually happened to me once.... Ive always had a habit of pulling to the side of a car, far- far right.. or in some cases far-far left... I virtually never pull directly behind a vehicle... My thought has always been, I would rather loose a leg than my whole body and die........

I pulled behind a car on the far right side, I then hear screeching tires, I pulled off to the side and then...... BANG.... the car behind me slammed into the car I was sitting behind.... That was a lucky day !

I just fallow the law and ride my ride..... LOL

most common accident seems to be the cell phone induced rear ender ... I usually stop with at least 1 car length between me and the car ahead , don't want to be the baloney in that sandwich . and being a bit left or right to give then a chance to miss you or a riders chance to escape , is a good idea.
easy to spot the California rider in Texas , he will split and seems to know how , still a shock as we are not used to seeing it . not sure that my luggage will make it through a line of cars , touratech makes the tenere ass look big .

This.... I've been a daily rider since late 80s.... I've always split everything and consider it a big reason why I'm still around all these years.... I would regardless of law. If you're not passing cars you're asking to get hurt. You have an almost full field of whats coming at you in front and if lucky two small fists of rearview of whats coming at you from behind (not too mention worrying about mirrors is dangerous). Be there and passed before they even know you're there, I always filter through at 10 to 15 over the flow. Don't hang out with the flow of autos and don't hang out between them.
