Shipping costs are not too bad, as long as I get the parts shipped to the inlaws in Chicago, then they ship it to me, otherwise the supplier likes to stick it to me on the shipping costs ::007::

Dogdaze,
Your not going to get your money back, resale sucks on Japanese bikes and you can't pass the buck to another buyer.
Looks like your sitting with a Tenere that needs correcting.
Just my opinion and it's Flipping frustrating as well.
I would shake it one last time for parts and also rebuild the Master Cylinder maybe a new line as well, or pull them apart and inspect them.

Mine did this once after being sat for a couple of months, luckily I have a habit of pulling the clutch in and out a couple of times for the other issue of sticky clutch plates, I tend to do a couple of clutch pulls every time I fire up a bike, I noticed the lack of pressure at the clutch.

My GS used to do this every time you ride for over an hour without using the clutch, on long trip I would pull of the motorway for fuel and find I could not shift gear - the dealer never fixed the issue, not sure he tried or even believed me as you did have to ride without touching the clutch for an hour.

I have since bled the S10 a couple of times and it has not done it since so I may have been lucky and got the air out - not that I am worried, all I need to do is pump the lever after the bike has sat for an extended period.

Here's the thing, I have good pressure at the lever, I also pump it a few times before starting, and when running before engaging first gear, then hold front brake and hang on while she bucks........ I get the cold plates thing, but it does it even when warm, not as violently but does do it. I'm running 10w-30 Motul semi-synth at the moment, did that when I changed the clutch basket back in August, so will also change back to 10-40 to see if that helps.............

Running in natural can you hear any difference in sound coming from the motor when you pull the clutch in as to when it is out?
Mine seems to do this when I engage the clutch it sounds a little smoother coming from the motor.
What is your idle speed say when between start and after it runs for a few seconds?

There is a slight difference in sound, quieter, just. Idle after initial start will fall back to 1050-1100 rpm

I hate to hear about the really problematic clutches but I should clarify that the occasional pumping mine requires is insignificant and not anything that makes me dislike or want to sell my bike. The issue does not compromise shifting or result in any unusual noises.

I'm gonna give some of the inspection and bleeding suggestions offered here a whirl and just keep on rolling. Many thanks to all who weighed in.

Dogdaze,
Sounds like it's engaging the clutch and idles correctly.
Your hydraulics are not working, seems your not getting enough pressure to the slave piston.
