I believe if you hold the “front trigger” switch down it will come up.How do I get into that menu? Mine just has the little grip and when I push the button I get 1 2 or 3 arrows pointing up.

Page 4-16 of the manual...I believe if you hold the “front trigger” switch down it will come up.
Fair warning, max temperature is VERY hot! I wouldn't recommend trying it out without gloves.
I just bought a standard 2017 ST yesterday. Worked the OEM heated grips into the price...they're around $500 installed. Aftermarket is cheaper, but adding he Yamaha grips makes them "plug and play" with the menu/selector, just like they are on the ES. Well worth it to me.Also, how hard is it to add the factory heated grips to my 2016 ES?
Or should I just go aftermarket?
Ah! The BMW R1250GS, better known as The Emperor’s New Clothes.......! In U.K., in the first reviews, it hasn’t done significantly better than the outgoing R1200GS and has been shown to drink more fuel too. Power comes at a cost. There has been no change to the bike except color since 2014 with the release of the second generation that year. I have a 2014 and looking to sell it in the Spring for the BMW R1250GS..........unless Yamaha gets on the stick and does something major to the S10!!
What are you looking for that you would consider "major"? I think the S10 is pretty well dialed in....unless Yamaha gets on the stick and does something major to the S10!!
I agree, the Beemer is a great bike. I came from an RT to the S10. That being said, I still see nothing wrong with the S10. If I wanted to REALLY nitpick, I could say the Beemer has a heated seat and the S10 doesn't and the S10's external temp gauge needs to be relocated. There's another thread somewhere, where Goldwing talks about how much he DOESN'T like the Tenere, and how great the Beemer is.
My 2016 has access to on board diagnostics, I don't know about later models.Someone told me that access to the diagnostics mode from the instrument panel has been eliminated/defeated from the 2016 models and newer. Is it true?
I thought all models had the linked ABS brakes?ES also gets you ABS linked brakes
From the Yamaha website for the 2018 ST non-ES:Nope ES only in 18 not sure on the rest of years.
- Assured Braking
Super Ténéré has both an Antilock Braking System (ABS) and Unified Braking System (UBS). With UBS, squeezing the front brake lever also provides some rear-wheel braking; pressing the rear brake first overrides UBS for traditional separate front and rear braking action.
You are correct all Super Teneres, at least since 2012 when they were introduced into the US, have linked ABS brakes, ES or standard, Gen 1 or Gen 2.I thought all models had the linked ABS brakes?
Good news on the diagnostics access, thanksMy 2016 has access to on board diagnostics, I don't know about later models.
And therein lies part of the problem. The Super Tenere does NOT have an external temp gauge. The ambient temp is from the airbox temp gauge used for the EFI system. I seem to recall it's tweaked a little, but it's usually off because it's reading intake air temp not true ambient air temp from outside. If I wanted to REALLY nitpick, I could say the Beemer has a heated seat and the S10 doesn't and the S10's external temp gauge needs to be relocated.
