After watching Tabasco change my rear tire in January, I am a bit concerned with just any moto shop changing my tires. We are going to try and get to Albuquerque by Saturday July 20th prior to heading to the BDR's. Anyone have any recommendations on where to get'm swapped out?

I've twice gotten new tires at Sandia BMW and have had nothing but good service. One time I waited and took test drives in all the new BMW cars, the other time they gave me free rides to a local hotel. They're a BMW dealer, so they may not know their way around a Yamaha, but tire changes aren't rocket science and because they service GS's so frequently, they typically have a good stock of the sizes the S10 uses. If I have decent tools, I often remove the wheels myself in the parking lot so I'm just looking for someone to mount and balance.

I am a "by the book" torque manic when it comes to tires...guess i need to get out of my race/track riding mind and get into a "that should be tight enough" mindset. I could easily do the tire pull.

Sandia looks like a car only place....?

I am located in Albuquerque, and have a full garage of tools ready to pull your wheels and take to the shop of your choice.
I personally take my wheels to Moto Authority, they mounted my K60's with no problems.
They also mount the tires for my sport bikes and I've never had an issue with them as far as scratches, balance issues, or anything else.
Ping me if you would like the use of my garage, and truck to take care of business...

4 of us were doing a New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado ride back in '09, and a tire I was sure would make the trip decided to start showing cord near Albuquerque. I know most don't like to even see the words "Cycle Gear", but their store in Albuquerque was the only place within a *HUGE* distance to have a proper tire in stock (a normal 17" size rear Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart sport touring tire, believe it or not). I pulled the wheel in their parking lot, and they let me watch 'em mount and balance the new tire... Got a good price on the tire, free soft drink while I was there, and they did the deed on the spot, while I watched - no waiting. I was happy as a clam.

Normally I wouldn't recommend a "Cycle Gear" store, but these folks were friendly, helpful, very professional, and did a perfect job. And they're open 7 days a week.

Just FYI...
