Beats me. Load was low when it failed. Like most it's got all the goodies, but LED headlights and LED driving lights lighten the load. Worst case is lights, GPS, Phone, grips, seat and jacket. What caused the burn up? I burned one on a '98 KZ1000P back in the day, but it had a pretty heavy electrical load.
The rectifier regulator was an absolute mfer to get unplugged. Release clips inboard between the connector and the electric panel. New one is about $300 US. The harness will be entertaining to fish out. I had to drop the crash bars (Rumbux) to get the cover and stator off.Sorry to hear your Stator failed.
Seems like the Super Tenere Stator failure rate has been pretty low or maybe we just haven’t been hearing about them ?
What does a new Stator cost ?
Is it difficult to replace ?
Ricks is definitely on my radar, I have friends with Triumphs. We actually had a Ricks rectifier overnighted to a campground in Thermopolis WY during a ride! AWESOME FOLKS!I think you have three options. 1. Buy an oem Yamaha stator est. $325. 2. Have Ricks Motorsport Electrics rebuild yours, probably save $100. 3. Some internet aftermarket stator most likely made in China. If not in a hurry, I would call Ricks and see how fast they can sell you one or rebuild yours. I would not waste money on any China made stators. They are guaranteed to fail sooner or later, probably sooner and at the worse time. JMO
PM incoming Jaxon.I have one if you want to reach out -
Perfect. I will take it. Sent a PM.
So apparently the used stator you bought from Mr Tobasco is now installed in your Tenere and working fine ? Hopefully it lasts a lot longer than your original stator lasted. How big of a job was installing it ?
