There’s a big Super Tenere Bash in the works for the Yukon Territory around that time. Link:

I was thinking of heading up to the big state in June and catching this shindig on the way back…even though it’s gonna be like a bajillion miles from here in Tampa. ::26::
Now THAT sounds interesting. I think I'll pencil that in. After I found my Tenere (picking it up next weekend) I started thinking about doing the Key West to Prudhoe Bay run. Now, on the way back, I could stop in Whitehorse.

That wouldn't be as bad for you, as all you would have to do is head down to KW and then start. I have to go Missouri to KW and then all the way to Prudhoe Bay.

I'm thinking....................................

Well, if you do that, give yourself a couple extra days (at least one) and do the Everglades National Park. The Glades has a lower and upper part. The lower part of the park is right there off of Florida City immediately before you get on the never-ending 45 mph road from hell out to the Keys.

I had previously thought about doing the Key West to Prudhoe Bay run before I heard about a Tenere. Now I'm thinking harder about it. But I like to stop and smell the roses once in a while and that schedule doesn't seem to allow for a lot of that. I wouldn't think anything set up for IBA members would have very much "stopping" period, much less, any smelling of roses time. :)
the IBA allows for 30 days to do the ride, but the MTF has to plan for logistics at each end - witnesses, lodging and the like. when i ran the UCC in 2003 i took my time and ran across souther canada and took a hot-dog tour of the eastern seaboard. it was cool. i wasn't in a big damn hurry.

however you choose to do it, have fun.

WELL ::016::

Things are REALLY looking up. I spoke to Tony, gave him some plastic to try melting and I'm now scheduled to pick up my S10 on the 24th.

Thanks to all who helped me in my search for the gem of the East SSSSSUUUUUPPPPPEEEERRR TTTTEEEENNNNEEEERRRREEEE

The adventure now begins anew starting in less than two weeks.

I went to Alaska in 08 and 09 and I'm thinking seriously about going back next year around June.

FUN FUN FUN

Congrats on the purchase. I picked my bike up in Longview as well and had a great experience.

It looks like you can leave Key West earliest on the 2nd of June and you MUST check in at Fairbanks on the 15th latest. That calculates out to a minimum of about 350 miles per day or so. A stroll in the park for your average IBA member.

Some days I might not go 200 miles in a day depending on where I am, what the weather is like, and how I generally feel at the time. And in an event like that, once you get behind, it then becomes all about the schedule.

I saw another response about a get-together in Whitehorse next year. I might try to combine that with the Key West to Prudhoe Bay run. Plenty of time to plan though.
It is good fellowship with good people though, and you can always do the flower sniffin on the way back and cover about anything you want to do. MTF peeps are first class (well except for me I guess).
