Swagger, I have to say I've been waiting for such a boot to be made for some time!. They are fairly warm (cooling sweat may be the bit that makes them feel less than toasty) and waterproof as you'd expect from new farkled gore-tex leather. They easy to get on off and fairly conservatively styled which might be a plus or a minus . I wear mine under my trews so not sure how much leeway there is for over the pants/shinpad wearers (likely depend on calf size too. Beware ones from USA as they arent Gore tex and maybe lorica rather than leather. And I think they may be a slim fit for some wider more hobbit footed riders.

I have the Sidi Discovery boots (commonly called Discos) that were the predecessors to the Adventure Rain boots. They're outstanding boots - completely waterproof, comfortable, and show virtually no wear in tens of thousands of miles. I'm sure these new Sidis are as good or better. They do tend a bit towards the dirt side in style and function, so if you want strictly pavement boots, there are probably better/cheaper choices. And while the Discos were available for around $200 for several years, these new boots have stratospheric pricing ($375!) and are almost never discounted.

You can probably find functionally equivalent boots for less money if you shop around. Recently when I needed to replace my pavement touring boots, I was going to buy $350 Sidi's, but found some on-sale AXO's for $120 that to my mind are just as good. That being said, you know exactly what you're getting with Sidis - great boots.

Yes I like Sidi boots .... I ride in Couriers and Vertigo Gore Tex Mega's. The Couriers aren't waterproof but offer great comfort and sole thickness and grip for that extra confidence. The Adventures have an even thicker sole, are Gore Tex but look very heavy.

Sidi seems to make quality stuff. I have Sidi road and mountain bike shoes, as well as, the Sidi Vertigo street boots that I use at the track. I have found their fit and finish quality to be very consistent.

These Adventure boots look like one more step towards off-road than even the Sidi Canyon Gore-tex we have had in the states here. My problem with most boots is the available calf diameter. I currently have a pair of Sidi boots made for BMW that are now over 10 years old. They fit my calf, and this is what I want in a boot.

Reading up on the Sidi Adventure boot they seem to say it's a do everything both on and off the bike, I really need to find some in the flesh to get a good look, see how heavy they are etc.

Calf sizes can be an issue as my other half has found whne trying to buy new boots, it's a bit like finding a new lid, you just gotta try a few until you find the right brand that fits.

Those Sidi Canyon's look a bit different, I prefer the Adventure overall though.

I have the highest faith in Goretex over the other stuff most often. It's just me!!!

This thinking bothers my wife as she works for a outdoor apparel company who offers their own line of waterproof gear!!!

I have some Goretex boots for mountain biking and walking, they are awesome, I had tried other makes before and they never seemed as good, desite all the claims they make in their adverts etc.

I think that Sidi and Goretex would make a good combo.

I'm a Gore-tex guy myself. All my latest sporting gear that I've bought is Gore-tex if it makes sense. I do have some competitor stuff as well, mostly due to price or limited use, but it never seems to be as good as the Gore-tex stuff. Probably all in my head though.

I also have had mixed experiences with a variety of non-Gore-Tex waterproof gear and universally good experiences with GT. Last year I bought an expensive bicycle jacket with some high-zoot/latest-technology waterproof membrane fabric called eVent which is supposed to work much better than Gore-Tex, but I find it doesn't measure up to my last GT jacket.

I don't view non-GT as a deal-breaker, but I do consider GT as a plus.

This is true, that is one reason I enjoy my AeroStich Darien jacket and pants.

I purchased the Euro version of the Sidi Adventure about a month ago. Only had a few chances to ride with it before the snow fell, but so far, I'm loving it. I wanted the waterproof leather/gore-tex version rather than the lorica/water-resistant-membrane version available in the U.S. I waited to buy until our annual trip to Germany and when it was all said and done (euro/dollar conversion, return of tax at airport, etc.) I paid a few dollars less than I would have for the U.S. Sidi Adventure here in the U.S. Very happy with this boot. It needed no break-in time and fit perfect, true to size, and comfortable as can be. Looking forward to wearing them enough to fully develop the "Sidi squeek" since I only got to use them enough that it is just starting.

Cheers, will try n find somewere bit more local as just need to check the fit and then order through local dealer, bit cheaky but I'll save a load of cash that way. Those Crossfire's look dam cool, a bit more on the extreme side. I'm hoping the Adventure will be a little more allround which is what several reviews have said. All this type of gear is new to me so trying to get the choices right first time round.
