BMW rider finally got his GSA

Heh hello all

I am a very happy owner of a Tenere

My previous two motorcycles have been a 98 BMW R1200c and a 85 BMW K100rs. I will have to be honest I have always wanted a GSA until I started working at an Auction handling BmW motorcycles and cars (no I don't get good deals, the dealers pay way too much and I see the condition some of these vehicle come in as) and watching all the YouTube videos labeled GS falls.

I live in San Jose, CA. I am an auto mechanic. I like to camp, ride my 450r at glammis or ST Anthonys dunes, pismo too but I remember the old days when pismo was bigger. I really got the adventure bug after I pieced together my K100 rode it 6 miles to get registered at DMV and took off for Death Valley. I almost was ready to make my K100 my adv tourer but I happened to stroll into a Yamaha/Honda dealer for a part for my 450r. Out of the corner of my eye tucked away was a funny looking front end of a motorcycle. I swear it winked at me and the rest is History.

And I am so happy with the ST ::022::

Anyways I am mostly a lurker as I know many other people have more experience, and I can't learn if I am typing, sorry for the troll title but had to do it. I am glad to be here and glad a forum for Teneres is around

Since you are going to actually ride the thing, could you post some Ride reports occasionally?

Hey Gary, welcome aboard and glad to have you. The funny part about motorcycles (to me at least) is that you never quite know what you're going to end up with. I always thought BMW to be my next bike and then I started test riding. ::007:: At the end of the day as long as you end up on a bike that suits you, with places to ride, and folks to share your experiences with it's all good.

Welcome aboard Gary! I too am a dune nut, and have been to Glamis, Pismo, St Anthony's, Dumont and the Oregon dunes...and I remember when you could camp at Oso Flaco...I'm actually heading out to Glamis next month to celebrate my birthday, and I'm taking my YFZ450...
