Got just 3.4k miles out of my rear Tourance (EXP) before I changed it . It was very square and probably could have given a couple of hundred more miles but would have been dubious and didnt feel ti was worth it incase it became illegal on a long ride. Upside was they stuck like poo to a blanket . Now got K60 Scouts and they buzz like a ladies favourite rabbit. Roads are now covered in grime and shiete here so dont think I get to test the K60s dry grip lean capabilites for a long time :/ . The 250miles I put on them sofar have been uneventful though I'm mindful not to push the front too hard until I get a feel for the tyre.

I have less then 3k on my Tourance's and the rear is not looking that great. When I change them out, I think I'll put on the Conti Trail Attack and see if I like that. From all the reports I've read they seem like a good tire. Being that I'm riding mostly asphalt they should work ok.
The Conti RoadAttacks on the DL1000: rear tires lasted 6,000 miles. front tire lasted 19,000 yes 19,000 miles and probably could have lasted another worthy 3,000 miles.

The Conti TrailAttacks on the KLRs: rear tires lasted 6,000 miles. have not worn out a front tire so at least 12,000 miles.

The Continental Attack tires are extremely round in Roll and Side to Side. They love PCH. Plus it looks like Conti has developed the 2 series. Looks like the TrailAttack is now offering a 19" front tire. The TrailAttack was (is) stickier than the RoadAttack and handles rain better.

I am at 4000 miles on the Tourance EXP and looks like I could get 2k more from it. I am not too hard on throttle, except corners and top the scales a little over 300#. I keep drooling over the K60's i am going to install in a few weeks or so.

I've got almost 3000 on a K60 rear and a TKC80 front. Works well on the street but I can't say I would try and get a knee down, work very well on dirt and gravel roads and seem to be holding up better than I thought mileage wise. ::008::

I ran K60's on my 800GS and they inspired confidence in the twisties as well as the Colorado mountain passes....

I will probably buy a set for the Tenere soon...the stock EXP rear is already showing visible flat wear with only 1600 miles on it, but they handle like a great sport bike tire on the road....

Don't laugh,! I went with the Shinko 705 radial! 130mph,and higher weight rating than the EXP.(got 5K out of those ,never liked that front till it warmed up)
Got around 500 miles or so mostly asphalt not much dirty work.
So far I would buy another set. I'll kknow more as soon as the weather brakes.

Rrunning MEFO explorers on my KLR. Not as good as the Karoo off road, but better on road. Better than stock on and off road. Would like to try them on the S-10.

I'll be giving these a try as well. Can't believe how fast that rear EXP is evaporating... ???
M'kay, if you can't believe how fast the EXP is evaporating, you really won't believe how fast that TR-91 will go away! Please report back about three weeks after you install it and take a pic of the tire you are about to replace.

Some of you blokes are a lot harder on tires than you think you are. I have 9k on the K60s and they are not done. Most of that, sadly, on pavement.

I pulled the EXPs after 750 miles, but will put them back on and wear them out. Free rubber and all that.

Really? This is the first negative I have read on the new Dunlop.

Everything I've read points to it being a great tire, just not lasting that long. Some of the over the pond reports are to expect 4-5k at best. It is hard to tell what it's going to be like for each individual rider though. Some are harder on tires than others, conditions and temps vary, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing what a couple of the S10 riders report when they do wear them out, but the one fellow only rides 6k a year, so it will be a long time before we hear back from him. My suspicion is that it won't outlast the EXP. Tires ???

What kind of mileage are people getting out of stock Battle Wings? At 4500 miles, I am guessing I have about 1000 miles left on my rear EXP. The front EXP looks great. Thinking about just doing a rear the first change while I contemplate if I am going to use 90/10 tires on this bike, or something more aggressive like a K60.

Thanks!

When my rear OEM EXP expires, I will probably replace it with Anakee 2 until the front EXP wears out.

Tyres are always a compromise between grip and wear. A tyre that lasts 9000 miles, which is what some of you are saying about the K60 will not give very good grip especially in the wet. But then it is sold as a mostly off road tyre so there is another compromise between road and off-road. For anyone that does alot of road riding I would say that the K60 is a bad choice. 5000 miles out of a rear motorcycle tyre is about right for sports touring. I used to get about 2500 out of a rear tyre on my R1. When I buy tyres I don't compromise, I buy tyres that will keep me upright in all conditions. (Note the correct spelling of tyres in this post! :p)

Tires will always be a controversial topic. It's all in the wrist Poohbear. ;D I know plenty of Sport Touring riders that get 5k from their tires. I call that poor throttle control. ;) If it doesn't last 10k, I won't waste my money on them. But then, I rode over 35k miles the last 12 months too. People foolishly think I ride slow because my tires last. Not so. I'm just smooth.

You are correct though, tires are a compromise. I haven't noted any issues with wet traction on the K60s, even now, but I don't get as much rain as our UK and PacNorWet brethren where I live now either. And I don't go about flogging the bike in the wet. We each get to pick our poison and try to find a tire that meets our individual needs.

All the variables make it hard to compare tires though. Different conditions, different riding styles, different bikes. Someone made a good comment that a tire that does well on a light bike may not do so well on a heavy bike. So true, but variable by tire brand and model. A friend likes Tourances, but not the EXP version, which he feels does not last as long.

Lots of riding ahead for us to learn what works for the Super Tenere.

Over all I agree with you 100%......... But I will say that I have been riding the K60's on all types of on and off road conditions. I have to say that the grip in the rain is just fine. IMOP they have felt the same as the stock tires. I have drug my feet with both tires in the wet... This also depends on the road surface. But over all the K60 in wet are very good... Im my experience this is very unusual to have this type performance out of a tire with harder rubber and a knob type tire.... Im not saying they are the same performance as a full on sport touring type tire. But this type ADV tire works very well in many conditions. Not to ::002::........ But like you said, if someone is doing 95-100% on road there is no need for the ADV type tires... stick to road tires.

I also have almost 3K on the K60's... the rear still has pretty sharp corners on it and looks almost new... The front still has the manufacture molding bumps and still look new...

I blame the S10 for making the K60 a good choice. They compliment each other very well.

I'm not sure the K60 shines near as much on other big heavy adv bikes. Especially in adverse weather.

That's what I thought. When I first put them on I had a lot of rain every trip - seems like in the first 1500 miles on them, 1000 was wet. I didn't push them, but they did nothing untoward or that took me by surprise - and that's probably all you should expect from this type of tire. Have 6000 miles on mine now, looking like it will easily see 10,000.
