I'm guessing the stock tire size is not very common. Called three different places in Western Ma. and nobody has that tire size. Might be out of luck.
I was on the phone this AM w/ my dealer to sched 12k service and spoke w/ parts about new BWs.

At the dealer Bridgestone Battlewings 139.99 Front 169.99 Rear - 1 week for delivery frm WI.

I know they can be bought for quite a bit less online at places like MC Superstore...

g'luck.

Coastie,

I would go for it, but I have a set of k60's I'll sell you if you want.
Did you try them and not like them?

That tire intrigues me.

I bought them from Jaxon for the Alaska trip, but had to cancel due to work. BN, never mounted, I want to try the PR3's since I only ride the tarmac.

Have Bridgestone re-launched these tyres, or do they do a special Tenere Fitment?

My experience of them on the GS were that they were awful, an opinion pretty much standard in the GS world, 90% of those who tried them slated them, in my experience feedback was vague and it took little to get them moving a little bit.

Mine has the Tourance EXP's, I know they wear fairly quickly, but they also grip very well.

On my last trip a abroad a mate of mine (Senior instructor for CSS and twice National Championship winner in UK) was on a rented GS with the Standard Tourances and really liked them, he was proper throwing it around and overtook everything in sight on the B500 on a noce Sunny Sunday afternoon (Probably ruining many a sportsbike riders day in the process)

Will most likely try Dunlop TR91's for Dual Purpose or Roadsmart 2's if I fancy road only tyres (or tires ;))

I got 14,935 miles out of the BattleWings that came on the bike. I mounted K-60s to replace the BattleWings, and have just shy of 21K miles on them with a good bit of tread left. I've been very happy with the K-60s, and don't expect to use any other tire on my S10.

I did 15.000km with my BWs until I changed them this thursday. The front was still good, took that home with me (took K60s this time)

I discuss the the different BW versions in this thread.

http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=4470.0

Also discuss some wear statistics. IMHO, the OP has a tire which is about 70% worn and probably has 1K-2K miles left to the wear bars depending on roads and riding style. I doubt 1200 miles would be dangerously close to the cords. I'd pump it up to 42 psi and go. And slow down if it rained.

Can't blame you for wanting PR3s if you only ride on pavement. They are OUTSTANDING road tires.

If you want rid of those K60s...shoot me a PM.

Thanks for all the feedback. I did not want to chance it on the way home, so I drove into troy NY and picked up a set of Anakee 2's.

Went to Max BMW. They actually had a pretty good selection of tires at a reasonable price. I'm already back in Massachusetts, but thanks for the invite. I saw you were from troy and would have taken your K60's off you but really did not need that aggressive of a tire.

Awesome Chris!
Despite having pretty good tread still on my rear BW at 11,500 miles, I'm in the middle of mounting a set of K60s for a 8,000 mile ride. The BWs are good enough that I'll keep them here as spares.

We have a set of Kendas that we're putting on Tim's Strom 1000 tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how the two sets differ by July. I'm sure there will be a lot less of the Kendas remaining.

That's far better than I the 7K got on my original BW, and I was pretty happy with that. It was also dramatically better than the Tourance EXPs were getting. I don't think they were going to get to 3.5K. I'll have just under 4K on my K60s when I leave for a 5K+ mile trip in a couple of weeks. That's a leap of faith I've never given any tire. Amazing I'm taking that leap with a street legal knobbie.

Just changed out the rear BW for another of the same. Got 3700miles or 6000km and it was bald in the center. Expect the front to last till the rear needs changing. Will go with the Tourance fr/rear nxt..
