So far so good on the Battlewings. I'm almost 5000 miles into them and they are holding up well. 98% of my riding has been a mix of easy cruising to very aggressive slab, good on wet pavement. I've always been a fan of Avon Distanzias but if the BattleWings continue to perform I'll put another set back on.

What's been yall's experience with them so far?? 8)

My XT came with the Tourances but I had Battlewings on my Strom and they do wear well. I am not getting great life out of the Tourances. Probably done at about 3500-3700 miles on the XT but I have been using them aggressively.

I love the Battlewings. I ran them on my D1000 and will stick with them on the S10. Good wet grip here in FL. I'd get 10K miles out of a rear. I bought a couple of them last time they were on sale at Cycle Gear. They're a way better tire than their low price indicates.

I’ve only got 1,200 miles so I can’t speak to wear, but I’m real happy with my Battle Wings. They’ve been great on all road conditions and I’m getting comfortable with them on light forest roads. I suppose it’s more likely I’m getting comfortable with the motorcycle, but the tires are part of the deal. I had ordered a set of those Hiedenaus thinking I'd probably need a 50-50, but I just cancelled them last week. I’m pretty sure I can work with these tires.

Only 1,200 miles on the EXPs that came on mine so I really can't say what I will get. If I do much non-pavement, I my try the plain Tourances as they are listed as 90-10 vs 95-5 for the EXPs.

I have over 5K on the Battle Wing now and it's done a great job in the wet. Still has some life left, but I can see the end coming. I have a set of Anakees I bought for my wife's departed DL650. Those will go on next, but I will definitely consider another set of Battle Wings.

Got 9500 miles on my Battlewings now with the rear having about 1mm left above the centre wear markers. Can't complain about that. Ordered a replacement EXP for the rear as I have never tried those before. We'll see if that was a good choice.

I am at 7341 miles on my Battlewings. Front looks OK, rear is flattened from a couple long hard fast days of super slabbing at op around 100 degrees F. It still feels stable and it aint done yet. Estimating 3-4 mm left

I normally run Distanzia and RoadAttack / TrailAttack tires. I am impressed with the Battle Wings wear and handling. A friend uses them on his DL1000 and now I know why he brags about them. Thinking Battle Wings will be my next tires.

Don't under inflate any tire but definitely do not run low pressures for the Tourance. They will cup in a heart beat especially the front tire.

my wee strom came with trail wings, they were ok. next tires were the battlewings, better. then came the conti trail attacks, which is what is going on the s10 next, best. (of course, this is for my kind of riding, 10-15% dirt roads). the stromtrooper web site had a good 10 tire comparison on some big bore adventure bikes, the trail attacks came out on top. though I have not tried all the tires in the test, my personal experience was similar. until someone does this again, http://gsri.info/forum/board1-technical-area/board68-tires/board70-tire-knowledge-base/246-choosing-the-right-tire/ , I will stick with the conti's, or maybe the heidenaus

Hey all, I need to make a decision. I have 6230 on the Battlewings pictured below. I will be doing a freeway bomb back to Florida from Massachusetts on Monday. It's approximately 1200 miles. Do you all think these tires have that left in them? I will be loaded down with all my camping gear.

My BW's were very impressive. I couldn't believe what I could get away with on that tire. Both my front and rear were feathered and purple. Unfortunately, I only got 4900 miles out of them before the rear SUDDENLY flat-spotted and the front cupped into the wear indicators.

Coastie,

I would say that is very close. The very end of my BW's happened very fast, in less than 1k miles. You might want to scrap those tires before you leave, or understand that you might need to add some delay to get them changed en route.

Maybe but theres a chance they won't make it and I hate to be on the road looking for a tire.
I've had 3 BW rears and got between 6500 to 7000 from each of them, none of them were bald when removed.

1200 miles? What did you do to them? I have about 2200 miles on mine and they aren't even half worn :-\

Thanks guys, yea I know it's very close on wether it will make it or not. That's why I'm asking, and understand everybody's comfort level is different. There is a possibility for rain on my way back. I think I will see if I can find me a new tire.

...I have 5500 miles on my BW's...the rear is flattening out (*it should as I ralst them every chance I get*) but still has at least 2K miles left on them.

The front looks new.

Will probably re-purchase the BW's again - I am stunned I am saying that, but i couldn't ask for more.

@ Coastie == I wouldn't risk that trip on those donuts...either will replace on the road or not have any fun at all in ANY wet conditions...especially loaded with gear on the rear.

YMMV....

I'm guessing the stock tire size is not very common. Called three different places in Western Ma. and nobody has that tire size. Might be out of luck.

A little over 5 grand on my BW and they look great so far. Will probably buy them again.

I had to replace BWs at 8000, they were toast; as I'd been riding them hard in the FL sunshine all winter there was no perceptible ridge down the middle ::002:: (chose to swap out the front too at same time) for K60s.

Coastie,

Kinda depends on the wx you expect, and that's hard to truly gage traveling over such a distance/time.

If it were gonna be dry all the way - no prob. But, loaded down and w/ rain likely why risk it, I'd just replace b4 the trip. ::003:: Assume the front is good to go for a bit?

Depending on the wx, i.e if it were gonna be a dry start, you could, carry a spare and keep track of the dealers long the way for a swap, or better yet, call ahead and arrange a purchase half way...

I have an 8-10k mi xc trip upcoming, 90% slab unfortunately, and plan to replay a set of the BWs, unless I can be convinced of better rubber, for that road trek.

Best, d ::001::
