Barkbusters Install

I have a set of the Barkbusters and was trying to put them off, first problem was it says to take the factory bar weights off. How do you do that? I can't see how they are on. Second problem was the clips that bolt on to the handle bars don't seem to want to go onto the bars and lastly even when roughly mocked up they don't want to match up with the bars that go on the outside.

I did check to make sure that I had the proper kit for a post '14 Tenere.

Thanks...

Bar weights are removed with a hex head wrench at the very end of bar. Once you get the Barkbusters positioned with their weights the clamps will fit the bars near perfect. Put everything on loose then tighten. It's easy to get the left and right clamps mixed up. I too had a little bit of trouble getting everything lined up. Another little tip is to drill and tap the Barkbusters to install the shields. The self tapping screws end up coming out or stripping out down the road....

Here is mine mounted:

Same here, kept mine on also. Throttle side replaced with a Kaoko. Perfect fit.

Hmmmm mine is a 2018 and I did not remove the OEM bar weights......
Do you by chance have a picture? The OEM bar weights will not fit with the BarkBusters installed. And why would you want those huge OEM weights sticking out? The BarkBuster weights are streamlined and designed to hold up in a fall.

Strange??? There is no way mine will fit with the factory weights on it.
Mine are in a container along with the OEM plastic shields.

I'll have to figure out how to post pics,,,,not sure I can be bothered thought to be honest. To each his own about the OEM weights, right.
I'll look into it tomorrow

I'm sure there is a way to make the OEM weights fit. But not without some modification. My question is why? BarkBuster sends a complete package ready to go including the weights. What is the reason to use the OEM ones?

My whole reason to getting the BarkBusters was for an easy install. This was the first bike I ever owned that did not require tweaking and special brackets to fit the guards.

I only had to remove the screws on the end of the OEM bar weights and the entire Barkbuster set up fit like a glove. I do have a Canadian Bike, maybe that makes a difference?
Haha, nope, mine is a Canadian too. What year is yours? I have an '18.
Are those TRex bars? That would be too funny as that is what I have.

No mods necessary. It was easy, that’s why.
It’s a personal preference. No need for me to explain
I hope the picture works.
How about a picture of where it clamps onto the bar? Reason I ask is because what you did puts a lot of stress on the hardware. A few tip overs and the bolts are going to snap. I’ve put many sets of hand guards on and broken enough bolts from “force fitting”. My biggest concern on the Super Tenere is brake and clutch Master Cylinders being broken by the handguard itself. It’s pretty close as it is even with proper installation done.
