Arrow header install

Just installed my Arrow Headers today and was wondering if I installed the retainer springs correctly. Should the right spring on each header be touching the pipe? And does it really matter?
Any help is much appreciated

Having never done it...that still doesn't look right to me.

Are you sure the spring retainers aren't on "upside down"? That would put the springs running more parallel with the pipes and looks like it would prevent contact to me.

Don't think there is a right side up...in some cases you can attach the spring hook over or under...but that doesn't really apply in this case.
Anyways, I wedged a large Flathead screw driver between the spring and the pipe and gently forced the spring away from the pipe...now the spring is no longer touching.....but it's very very close.

The rubber spring cover on the right side is melting to the pipe when I run the bike...is that ok...Normal?
Yep.... If you want another rubber sleeve just just let me know... I will probably pop mine off one day and wrap the spring with exhaust wrap just to keep it metal from metal....... OK..... go rip on it now and tell us if you feel 'a' difference.... ::008::

I have an Akra end can..and my bike was to one that went to Bazzaz for R&D and in return I received their version of the PC.

I have the same setup and issue. My dealer removed the rubber spring cover on the right side of each pipe. ::008::

Now not the rubber nor the spring toch the pipe.

Is the rubber meant to stay on there? I've seen many connecting springs on exhaust systems with bare springs including the Remus system on my XJR1300.

Am I right in thinking fitting new headers does away with the lambada sensor? If it does what do you have to do to the sensor? Cheers Ray

No. It has fittings for the lamda sensors....and if you buy it from Tabasco, he can weld on a bung for the Auto Tune sensor.

Yes, normally it should stay there if the spring is provided with the rubber (teflon). Some springs come with them, some don't.

How about a reflash instead of a PC.... will that do the trick???

I installed the Arrow and the Acra a few days ago and now need to do something to improve fueling. Idling is erratic and bike is herky/jerky at very low RPM. It's one damn endless and expensive chase to find the "perfect combo" of tuning aids. Should have left the exhaust stock... ::010::

TBS was done prior to Arrow/Acra update but Co2 has not yet been done. Do ya think Co2 adjustment will help? ::26::

I'm still on the fence about the re-flash on U.S. bikes as there have been some mixed reviews as to the actual benefit vs. cost. It seems that the flash makes T-mode act more like S-mode...and S-mode is essentially unchanged. The only common theme I've heard is that the bike accelerates smoother than before.
As my bike sits right now with the Bazzaz PC, Akro Pipe and Arrow header...it flat out hauls Ass. The only thing missing is the hi-flow air filter which I have on order with Tobasco.
Unless the performance benefit of the flash is mind blowing compared to what I have now, I can't justify the $450 cost.
I'm still waiting to ride a flashed bike so I can compare the bikes myself.
My suggestion to you would be to contact Tobasco and have him hook you up with a PC, Autotune and custom fuel map. I promise you won't be disappointed with the results.

With only the Akra, you will NOT need a PC V. By fitting Arrow headers you will definately need a PCV!

Hi, I have the same issue after fitting Arrow Headers and and Akro can, surging at 2000 RPM which is pretty bad. I've just had the ECU ref lash done and this has made little difference. What I'm picking up is that I need a PCV too. Which way did you go with this in the end?

Best

there are some maps by protondecay and i under the powercommander subforum specifically created to eliminate that heavy surging at >2500RPM's. PM me if you want to talk more in detail about how long i chased my own tail in figuring out how to fix the surging, might spare you some stress

I guess that this would mean fitting a Power Commander though, more cash! I've been told by my ECU Unleashed dealer that they can't do anything about the surge (mine's bang on 2k) as this happens in the closed loop area, however the ref lash is supposed to get rid of the closed loop. As the full list of mods was given to the dealer (Arrow headers, K&N, Akro slip on) I had thought that the map would fix the issue. I'm now thinking of loosing the Arrow headers as a lower cost option than buying a PC and getting that tuned in :(
