Hello All,

If any of you are interested in a tour of the Somerset/Devon/Dorset lanes then let me know.

When I say lanes I am referring to B roads and unclassified roads but not a foot of shite where tractors have been, if you get what I mean. Some of the lanes will have grass up the middle and scarce tarmac but that's about my limit.

I've been riding the lanes around this area for over 30 years and would gladly put a run together for a day or two if you would like to camp and make a weekend of it. I know for a couple of pubs with campsites in the area and would be glad to help sort it.

If interested I'm thinking about late June weekend. I've done a few tours for friends and foreigners in the past and they've gone down well, a group of ten/twelve is normally a god size. I'm not a business, this is not an advert; I just like people to see what the area has to offer as there's a lot that can be missed.

Interested?

I could be interested in this, it sounds like my kind of fun. Obviously it will depend on my availability for the dates chosen.

I'd be interested too. I'd be camping. Hopefully there'd be a site not popular with tourists :)
Check out the "True Lovers Knot" pub near Wimborne, it is a bike friendly pub (they have bike nights during the summer) and they have a camping field.

I maybe able to make it, although I tend to be incredibly busy at the weekends.

Hello All, I am based in Yeovil, I know the Halway House on the A37 between Yeovil and Ilchester offer camping and I have used the Cross Keys at Lydford on Fosse in the past. If the latter are still offering the camp field it is the better pub and the one I will recommend.

Once I have an idea of numbers I will do the leg work and find a suitable place for those wishing to camp.

Thanks Stu.

The route I have in mind starts at the Podimore services on the A303. There's a large area to meet there at the picnic benches and there's fuel etc. from there we'll be heading through the Cadbury lanes and out to Stourhead before cutting over to the Mere downs. From there we'll be heading to Cucklington before dipping into Dorset and heading towards Shaftesbury and up the zigzag hill. From there across the chase and into Blandford and then on toward the Piddle Valley to Cerne. From there we will go across Hardys country and end up at West Bay.

A Further itinerary for a Somerset/Devon ride will be made available for anyone wishing to do a second day.

We'll most probably kick off from Podimore at about 9:30. The pub/camping I have in mind is only 10 mins ride from there.

I could be up for it. I am away on a Europe trip in June and it depends on the dates my mate can make for that, I will know in a week or so. But if it doesn't clash I would definitely be interested ::008::

Would it make the outing more attractive to all if it were on the following weekend June 27/28?

I have sent everyone who has shown interest a PM with camping details.

Please let me know when you have booked so I can have an idea of numbers.

Thanks,
Nick

Update: as of last night I'm told there are 10 non hook up spaces available at the pub.
