The rack looks great! The only thing I think strange is if you pre drill for a top box on a rack built for an adv bike, why choose Givi? Their overriding theme is round-shaped boxes that look out of place on the bike...possible exception is the trekker, but that one conjures up thoughts of giving small animals a bath. Anyway, not quite sure why they went in that direction. I still plan to buy the rack because my rant is very minor, but I still think the Givi choice a bit odd. :)

I really like mine. It has so many uses! The stock rack is not useful or at least I could not find a use for it.

+1. The stock rack is almost a total fail from a funtional standpoint, IMO. I have to constantly bend brain cells into dognuts to make sure my stuff is secured properly. I can see the Alt Rider rack in my near future.

Nice review. Have been pretty unhappy with the stock rack. Looks like this'll take care of that. ::008::
I have this rack and it rocks!

You'll like it. If you get it from Revzilla you will get free shipping as well.

Nice write up and review of the Altrider Luggage Rack! Thanks. This item was already on my wish list. I really like that little storage space underneath the rack and the Rotopax mounting option. I ordered it through Jaxon at rideonadv yesterday. I had him throw one of those Altrider side stand expanders on the order too. :)

Jaxon had free shipping on this, too.

IMHO all top boxes are hideous whether round or square. The preference for square boxes is based on the idea that square boxes are cheap and practical. If I already own a top case, is it not cheaper and more practical to use that one? I could create that stylish third world look by searching for some battered ammo cans (no wars have been fought here in centuries and civilians don't get to scrounge on military bases, so they're not exactly common) or wrapping sheet metal around a milk crate, or spending a thousand dollars to get a manufactured version of this look. But the look isn't the important part - the function is. I don't care if I look like a dilettante. And I'm not the only one who already owns Givi stuff - it's probably the most common topcase found in the wilds of America. Certainly more common than ammo cans.

And since Altrider isn't selling any luggage cases of their own, and they already need to drill holes for straps and weight reduction, including the Givi mount points is an obvious choice. When I make my own topcase racks, I drill holes for everything I can think of, just in case I want to change things up. I'd hate to have to drill more holes later - I'd have to spray another coat of bedliner! If I'm going to spend the big bucks to get something pre-made, I expect it to be at least as useful as my home brewed solutions. :)

LOL! Actually, the Givis I saw in the picture of your bike have a semi squared off look that goes with the bike pretty well, so you get a pass for now.;-)..are they the 41's? Ammo cans are TOO square....darn It's torture being so picky;-) A milk crate would look cool in a retro sort of way, but the water proofing is kinda fussy. I've actually resisted the urge to mount my old Coo Case rationalizing that I need something bigger anyway. The Tenere seems to stimulate expensive farkling behavior in me:->,,,,wish I could figure out how to use smileys in Tapatalk(>_<)

I'm running an ancient E45 as a topcase - that's the squarish one. I'm running the rounder E360s as sidecases, because I already owned them as well. I haven't bought any cases specifically for the Super10. Yet. ::)

But I'm going to buy that Altrider rack. I'm just trying to restrain myself until after Christmas. O:)
