Hey everyone. I am guessing that this has been talked about before but I figured with all the buzz for US release times that might as well talk a bit about it again.

Now I know nothing about aftermarket exhausts really. I kept my previous bike all stock. But I was looking at the stock exhaust on the ST and some aftermarkets and I was wondering..

I am looking for an exhaust that is similar to the stock in terms of diverting the exhaust downward so it wouldn't constantly be breathing on/near the turn signal. So far all I have found that does that seems to be the Arrow exhaust system and the Akrapovic slip on. I do not know how readily available arrow would be in the US. But does anyone know of other exhausts or have a particular recommendation among these two?

Great choice... That's what I was about to recommend to you.. The Arrow headers look amazing and the Akrapovic points down like your looking for... Sounds great too ! ! The big difference in the header is the removal of the cats... From my experience you might loose a bit of low end power but gain a bit more mid and top end... Knowing the work that Arrows offers you know they have done the home work and are top notch ! You can order from the US and online overseas.... As always, just depends on the time your willing to wait, and cash.......

I have had good luck with Leo Vince exhaust. If you go to their website and look at the details you'll see that they have included a turndown silencer tip that directs the exhaust away from the turn signal.
They can be bought for $557 and free shipping at Pipecity.com

So you would say the Arrow over the Akrapovic?

If anybody has a source for the Akrapovic and can get a group buy, count me in! :p

Pipecity.com had the best price I could find on the Akra, and the Arrow.

That's what I got on my Leo. Sounds ;D, looks :'(.
Chris, do you have a picture of the U-formed-db-killer ?

I only saw pictures of the normal db -killer (for little licence-plateholders.)

on the Leo-site : When the LeoVince exhaust is fitted on bikes with number plates which dimensions are bigger then 17cm. x 17cm., it is necessary to replace the dB-killer of the silencer with the one supplied in the packaging

thanks

;)

Wasp, I'm thinking of buying your exhaust, what's the reason for the difference in price compare to the other pipes?
I also know nothing about aftermarket exhausts. :)

I am using the WASP can and once installed properly per Greg's instructuions, there is no issue with heat even with the Yamaha Bags. I love the sound Greg has made in this can.

It's the best sounding by far. If I end up forking out the extra $$ for the Wasp, you can bet I'll be mind melded with the alignment measurement in instructions, as I saw what happed to your side case :D I know, it's not funny :-X ;D

Hmm, Then I prefere a little Heat-damage... :))

I have been using the Leo Vince with the standard dB killer with no heat damage anywhere. If I remember correctly, the poster chose not to install the provided spacer, which changed the angle of the slip on and caused that heat damage shown in the picture. The Leo Vince is a great pipe with sound that is just barely louder than stock and makes a big difference in how the bike runs. It is also a better bang for the buck when compared with the Akra, which I am sure is also a great product but costs significantly more.

Tremor, yeah, that was all me and the install. OOps!!! Fortunately, I have some insulated exhaust tape stuff on there, then I went over that with some Aluminum metal which i JB Welded to the side. I have ZERO issues now after moving the pipe and driving with the bags in place for over 40 miles at a crack.

Would you take some pics of what you did, if you have not. I am putting that pipe on and would like to avoid melting anything.
I'm using the Micatech cases, do you thing I should put extra aluminum on them?
Thanks
