I'm looking to replace the stock ones as I can't adjust them close enough for my hand size.

Are there any makes that particularly stand out?

I've seen the V-Trec ones on ebay, they look ok. Anything better out there?

+1 on the Hong kong sourced levers! Had a pair of Pazzo's on my old Tiger which rushed me well over £100 for the pair. Have a pair of £38 e-bay sourced levers on my S10 and apart from the weight, there is no obvious difference. The finish is good, the adjustability is excellent and they do the job just as well as the Pazzo's, imho. ::001::

O' yea...... Or the knock off leavers... ::) They look the same, but like everything 1/5 th the cost, they are not... I can snap the Ebay ones in my hands... A customer once showed me why he didn't want the knock off ones...

Hey it's a choice of what you need/want and what you can afford!!

I myself am not planning on snapping them in half with my hands, and if I dump my bike bent or broken levers are going to be the least of my worries...

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I agree with Jaxon, I have the Pazzos and they are top notch.

I have read other threads on here regarding levers and they all seem to be about the cheap ones from Hong Kong, very similar to the ones I posted a link about.
I'm interested in finding out about others, particularly ball raced ones.

Are there any other Yamaha models that have the same lever fittings as the S10? Not many sites list levers for the S10 so it would be handy to look for other models.

I like these but they don't make them for Yamaha's

The Pazzo's are top notch, but you pay a ridiculous price for them, the majority being for bragging rights. You know, kinda like the difference between buying a GS over a Tenere. LOL

I know they are top notch and made in the U.S.
Chines stuff is made in a hurry so they are inexpensive and not as solid, but damn near 40k miles on my Triumph in less than three years I could find nothing wrong with them or how they performed.
Just wish the Pazzos had a more affordable price tag.. ::003::

Re: Aftermarket brake and clutch leavers

I was researching levers before I bought the Pazzos. What killed the idea on getting the cheap ones, was when I read a few comments about occasionally having to file down the Chinese levers to get them to fit. I read that, and thought, "nope, forget it". I was looking at 30 bucks for levers I MIGHT have an issue with, or 150 bucks for levers that I WON'T have an issue with. A difference of 120 bucks is absolutely nothing in my eyes, so that's the way I went. Now if I was riding a KLR, maybe I'd go cheap, but not for the Tenere. >:D

I always found it strange for someone to be on a 14 thousand dollar machine and put some cheap chineese ebay part on to save a hundred bucks or so. I have had CRG and Pazzo levers in the past. I loved them both. But the option to throw on some cheap levers, or any other part on my bike never seemed worth it. I would rather keep the factory part. If a lever breaks your adventure to get it home will most likely speak for itself.

Re: Aftermarket brake and clutch leavers

i have listed my idea before, but I use the ASV levers. Usually $125 each, but you can call them and get a new refurbished pair for $125 just like the new ones. I went with that and no issues and a good feel. They are the same levers listed to fit the FJR. Hope this helps. I too am not too fond of the "knockoff's".

Lots of angst floating about on this thread. The stock levers are fine for me, so no dog in this hunt. But if $120 is no big deal, you don't ride enough. That's around 1200 plus miles of riding. And while I grant you that some do need different levers, most don't and it's just bling. No harm there, but don't rationalize it.

I think buying a quality part over a knock off is not really "drinking the kool-aide". If chineese versions were equal in quality we would all be riding hyosungs instead of Yamahas. I live with two chineess exchange students who won't buy "made in china". But to each their own I guess. The kool-aide that needs to stop being drank is coming from those in the white house!

Re: Aftermarket brake and clutch leavers

Have had the Chinese shorties on both sides for about six months now - zero issues. Got 'em in black with blue adjusters and they look sweet - so yeah, it's partially a bling thing. At the same time I quite like the shorter levers - if I ever have an issue with them I'll replace them...and I may get Pazzos when-and-if I do.

At this time I don't see the benefit in spending the extra $$$ - and it's not like I'm afraid to throw $$$ at the bike - didn't know if I was going to like the shorty levers and didn't want to spend hundreds to find out. These are working fine...

Re: Aftermarket brake and clutch leavers

For me, it's all about where I want to invest my dollars.
I needed new levers 'cause the stock ones couldn't adjust to where I wanted them. I bought the cheap ones, and yeah, I had to fiddle with them a bit, but I like to fiddle. (Queue some banjo music)
They do exactly what they're supposed to do, adjust where I'm happy, and look good too!

The dollars I saved go to my suspension upgrade fund, and I'm not going to skimp there. (Hello Soltec)

All that being said, the stock levers are still on the bike, only they ride in my toolkit. Don't tell me I'm the only one that carries spare levers at all times.
The chance of breaking a lever in a tip-over or a dirt nap is pretty good, especially with the stock hand guards. I've broken a few over the years.
Given the fact the you may be miles from a paved road, a working clutch lever is essential. OK, maybe not essential, but it does help a lot.

And yes, I own a KLR.

A guy walks up to you at a gas station. He says, "I see you own a Super Tenere. Nice, but not necessary. Do you realize how much fuel you could have purchased with the extra money you spent on that bike!? You obviously don't ride enough." What do you say to him?

You bought your S10 because you wanted it, and were willing to spend the money on it, plain and simple. Of course, that's just my guess, I don't know you.
