When I designed the changes to the lift I never drew any blueprints. It's basically the same arm just wider and taller. Wider so it clears the footpegs for rotation, taller so you can pick it up by the center frame mount. The spots on the frame I lift from are some solid pieces of bar stock I cut and slip into the frame and use the adapter kit that came with the lift to slide over those to pick the bike up. I would suggest making the main arm out of 10mm wall square tubing and have it at least 80mm square. The piece I have is made out of 1.750 inch square 1/4 wall with a piece of heavy wall aluminum tube stock hammered into the center. I don't know why at the time I didn't use heavier wall stock. I welded the arm on the bottom with about 3 degrees positive rake because the Tenere flexes the arm enough to make it flatten out. You can see all the flat bar bracing welded on to help support the joint. Nevermind the dirty XR photo...Its a good photo of the lift. I can swing by the shop today and snap some photos of the arm itself.

I went over to the shop this morning and got a few more crappy photos.

And to get maximum lift, be sure to drill this mounting hole in the right spot. I have mine set up so when the stand is all the way down the bar just misses the skid plate. I can lift the bike pretty high and it is rock solid stable.

IMG_0340.jpg
These are the pieces I stick into the frame to lift the bike. The birdshit weld in there is to stop the piece from going to fare into the tube on the frame. On one side it butts up against an engine mount bolt, and on the other it could go into the frame like 6 inches, so I put the weld on to stop it otherwise the bike could fall out of the lift. Notice the tiny flat ground on the part. That side goes into the frame because there is a tiny weld in there you can either grind out or you can grind your plug like I did.

I’ve had a Sky lift for several years and use it with my Zx14r. It’s a brillybit of kit and makes maintenance and cleaning much easier. It won’t work with my S10 because it doesn’t have the swingarm spindle holes that are used to lift with.

If I could have some dimensions sketches or best attempt at it, I could get it made up, fortunately for me I'm an ops manager in a fabrication business, just a thought, as would like one myself. Might end up buying one and just modifying it not sure yet

Hello, this is Kees from The Netherlands. I don't have a Super Tenere (but a Tracer 9 GT), but I'm interested in the Abba Skylift. While I'm an engineer (I design machines), I'm considering to make one by myself (the Skylift costs in Holland app. 700 euro's)..

Could you measure some dimensions for me? Like the dims of the square tubes (also wall thickness) used in the frame and the roller assy... And what is the stroke of the ram?

And the rollers... they have a diabolo shape due to some sideway guiding I guess. I think the rollers are made of mild steel (the lower roller on your pictures is appearing blank, so the electrolythical treatment has gone..), with no bearing in it? And turning around a normal bolt? I found out that the roller assembly nowadays has welded pins to fix the distance between the side-lifting plates... (looking at https://youtu.be/CJyosgrXVOo?t=246 ). What is the thickness of the side lifting plates?

Many thanks!

Sorry for such a late reply, I didn't get an email notifying me that you had commented. Just curious what type of machines you design and what software would you use to design something like this? All I did was basically oversize the lifting arm to fit the Tenere and kept the base stock. If I had the time I would re-do the whole thing so it could pick up more varieties and heavier weights.

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with Abba Stands and their Sky Lift? has anyone used it with their S10?
http://www.abbastands.co.uk/product_details.asp?id=44

I'm very tempted and plan to take time to go look at it at the London Motorcycle show in February.
I spoke to ABBA Stands about 18 months ago and they categorically said that the stand won’t work with the S10 IIRC it was because of the shaft drive and no swing arm pivot to locate the adapters, but I would be interested to see if Ossaboy’s fabrication and mods work.
