A Week in Big Bend

Just got back from Iraq again and spent a week cruising the roads and trails of Big Bend National Park with my daughter. Of course it was hot being July but we had a couple overcast days and some rain in the evenings that cooled things down a little. Intended to get some riding in Big Bend Ranch (Texas State Park) but ran out of time. Great dual sport riding for the big bikes but watch out for the sand across the roads in the low lying areas. Summer is a little warm in the park but being from the Gulf area we are used to managing the heat. If anybody is interested drop me a line. I did a lot of research before making the 10 hour trip and it turned out great. My 12 y/o daughter had a great time and loved the park. Cell coverage is terrible but there are plenty of places with Wifi to keep checking.

I've had several inquiries about the backrest on the top box. It's a Givi E68 and Revzilla has it for $49. I mounted it upside down as my wife and daughter preferred it that way.

love the pics - looks like a ton of fun!

what's the details on that backrest? need the wife off my azz sooner rather than later so her "back" doesn't hurt.

Wow...My respects to you and your daughter for riding BB in July. How hot it get down at Rio Grande Village? I was there in February 2010 and it got pretty warm then. Magical place, especially for an eastern boy like me. Here's a pic of the Abaja with my wr in the background. Spent over 2 hours just looking around the ruins.

::026:: Can't wait until my eldest daughter is old enough to take along on a ride like that. Good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
