I'm wanting to get a Cobra TPMS. Am I to understand that there are risks to using the cap-style senders on the stock rubber tire stems?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I agree....it could happen so take off the monitors if doing serious off road. Normally just fine in my experience.Yes, especially if off road or where there may be sticks or other debris.
Short of tying a rope around one of these things I doubt you could snag it on anything. They do stick out a bit wider than a standard valve cap but its smooth plastic and we are talking a 1/16 of an inch.Yes, especially if off road or where there may be sticks or other debris.
I am just using the original rubber stems but mine is not the Garmin one either...No issues to report.I was under the impression that the TPMs that attached to the valve like the Garmin ones mentioned above needed metal valve stems
Are you guys attaching them to the original rubber stems?
If so, any problems?
That’s the system I’m getting. Should be here tomorrow. Glad to know there’s no problems.Been using the Cyclops TPMS w/stem mounted sensors on the oem rubber stems for 2.5 years with no issues
The instructions are not the best...the missing bit of info is that once installed you must ride the bike for several revolutions of the tire for the wheel sensors to wake up & sync with the head unit. Make sure to do this before entering custom high/low values. Afterwards it will display the last recorded pressures when you go for your next ride...then after a few wheel revolutions the sensors wake up & display current readings....it automatically cycles between pressure & temp. I am still on the orig lithium batteries + they ship with 2 replacement batteries. The head unit is a little hard to read when wearing polarized sun glasses. If you have any problems just call Greg @ Cyclops..he's very helpful. That’s the system I’m getting. Should be here tomorrow. Glad to know there’s no problems.
Running rubber stems. No issues for the 3000 miles I've had them on.I was under the impression that the TPMs that attached to the valve like the Garmin ones mentioned above needed metal valve stems
