It would be nice since we have to preorder our bikes if Yamaha would let us have more options on ordering them. Like Trail Wings instead of Battle Wings Tires ,If they come with Bridgestones. Or even some knobby choices, Short guys should be able to have that shorty seat stock, And some choices on stock windshields would be nice.

If my Tenere is delivered with the Battle Wings, I'm going to promptly wear them out! I did not Like them on my GS. I'm hoping they feel better on the S10. I will be looking at replacing the tires with Metzler Tourance EXP's pr Pirelli Scorpion Trails.

I sure hope they don't come with Trail Wings. That's the OEM tire on the Stroms and it's commonly known as the Death Wing. One ride across the lightest of mud on a state maintained dirt road will tell you why. Those tires scared the %$#! out of me. I thought one of the reviews said there was a specially designed Tourance specifically for the S10. Hope so, Tourance is a reasonable light duty tire.

I've run a couple of sets of the Tourance EXP's......about the best tire of that type I've found. I ran a set of scorpions on my Triumph Tiger 955. The scoprs seemed to grab and corner like mad.

it really is a matter of what a person is going to be doing with a bike and the miles he/she may be putting on in a years time. Although some would argue, I have had good mileage luck with the SHinko E705's, although I did have the seperation issue with one rear tire. I like the TKC 80's, but they are pretty spendy and don't last long at all.

Mine came with the Tourance EXP (Metzeler's new tires for this kind of bike) and I love them. 'til now only mud is a real challenge (if you even try to do it... but i don't recommend it) :p ::)

But these are on-road tires no matter what and they excel. I'm considering Karoo T for off-road use and then TKC80. But I have no experience with knobbies... and it seems this is it. I didn't find more tires that can handle heavy weight bikes off-road at least with XT12 sizes...

There sure doesn't seem to be many knooby choises for this bike yet. I hope by May there will be a lot more with reasonable prices.

I won't be doing any serious off-roaring with my S10 (at least no right away) so I am more untreated in tires that can handle gravel/dirt roads, no mud if avoidable. A friend who has a R1200GS prefers the non-EXP Tourances. He says they last longer. This is gonna be a little tougher nut to crack bs tires for the ST1300. I am glad a dedicated forum for the Super Tenere exists so I can glom info of more experienced owners.

Tire and oil threads seem to go on for ever.... ;D. I'm not going to be doing any extreme off roading and most of my time will be on the pavement getting to where I want to go. Good news to hear that some of the S-10's are being fitted with the Tourance.

I'm guessing that on our side of the pond, we will see the BattleWings. I've ran the Tourances before and liked them. Also the TrailWings, but was never real impressed. Never had the BattleWing though.

I've found the Battle Wings to feel "loose" and not to corner well. Did not inspire me to charge hard into a tight curve. I also need a tire that works well in wet conditions. Couple the loose feeling Battle Wing with a slick road and I can see how the came to be called "Death Wings".

I also will be trying the Pirelli Scorpion Trails. They are a 90/10 tire and that is about what I predict for my road/off road use of my S10. I put a set of these on my 08 KLR and coudn't believe the improvement in handling on tight Ozark roads. They were even better than the Pirelli Scorpion ST's which were a major improvment over the OEM tires. Only had them on gravel for off road use and they did fine there also. Motorcycle Superstore has them on sale right now for $262 a set delivered in S10 sizes and I am tempted to get a set to have ready for whenever I wear out the OEM tires.

I liked the Pirelli's as well. They worked great on tight roads!

I'm on my second set of Battle Wings, with a third set in the garage, ready to go. If my S10 comes with the Tourances, that's fine, but I'll replace them with the Battle Wings. Great tires, IMO. Now the Trail Wings , that's a completely different story..... I wouldn't run those if they were free.

Tell ya wot ... you'll be lovin' the BattleWings .... them's the business ... well they are for black slab work and actually perform well on granulated trail. Will replace with knobblies to make it look the business when spring arrives 8)

The TrailWings were nicknamed "DeathWings". The BattleWing is a completely different tire. I run the twisty stuff pretty well when I get up into the NC mountains and I like them. They work good in the wet, too. Living in Florida means you're going to ride on wet roads-a lot.

I run mine at 39 front and 41 rear. With a heavy touring load, I go up a couple of pounds on each.

For me the TraiWings were no good. BattleWings have been good for the last 1500 miles on my Strom. Grip has been as good as the previous Scorpion Syncs but better milage so far on the twisties that I frequent.

I am already first in line for HoebSTer's Battlewings when they are replaced with knobbies in May... ;)

You beat me to it, SpeedStar. I'll be in second position, as long as HoebSTer doesn't do a track day before he changes them out. ;)
