Yes that’s pretty much what dealers have been telling me as well.

In 2016, when I was trying decide whether to go for a discounted '16 or wait to see what the '17s were going to be like, the dealer had no info until late November or early December. He told me that it was normal.

It’s a FJR thing, I’ve seen it before. :p

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the "no more FJR" thing. Many here have made the jump from FJR to Tenere. And don't forget Honda did away with the ST1300 because they believe that "adventure" bikes are where it's at. On the other hand the FJ/FJR has been around since '84; except for a short hiatus. I believe if one of them is to be discontinued, it will be the FJR.

Most manufacturers announce or introduce their carryover models first. Models with significant changes are often introduced later.

My interest in this is I plan to sell my 18 FJR ES and trade my 16 S10 standard in on a 19 S10 ES. Then move all my accessories from my 16 to the 19. If the 19 has changed I will grab a 18 ES before they are gone.

I saw that ad too, it's misleading, if you go to the Yamaha website, there is no mention of the 2019 S10, just the 2018. We still need to wait, hope they do some significant upgrades like improve the fairing wind coverage, add more power, improve the throttle response, improve the ergo's, etc. or its off to the BMW Dealer for a 1250GS.....

I just got off of the phone a half hour ago. I just made a deal to trade in my 16 standard on an 18 ES. This way I have what I want and I don't have to gamble on the 19 being changed to a new model or discontinued. There were on 2 ES models available within 400 miles of me. It is going to be tight as I go on night shifts tonight until Tuesday morning. I will only have time for a short nap when I get home and I will have to strip all my accessories off of my 16 and put the stock parts back on. Then I have to make a 400 mile round trip on Wednesday to go pick up my trailer to haul my bike down with on Thursday morning. If you look at the pic you will see I have a bit of work stripping my bike.

Nice ! Hopefully the brackets for mounting your right saddlebag will work on the ES, I’ve been hearing that big right side cover for the ES can cause problems with some of the aftermarket saddlebags mounting brackets. It’s no issue with the Yamaha bags.

W....T....F....? Are you talking about a KLR? Or comparing a Tenere to your Goldwing? I am getting SO tired of people bitching about what the Tenere CAN'T do, and what it doesn't have.

My dealer emailed me the other day and said Yamaha is doing some more releases on Nov 5th. See if that brings any news.

I priced a 2019 R1250GS loaded for $23,000. That's $7000 more than a 2018 S10 but unless Yamaha makes significant improvements to the 2019 S10, the BMW GS is worth the extra cash.

It is rare that you will pay full MSRP on a Tenere, unlike the BMW. So you are looking more at a $8-9000 difference. Fully equip a Tenere, and you are still looking at a $4000+ difference. But that is not to say the BMW is not a good bike, I have paid the price, and had the problems, and will not do again for me.

The US site still has the Tenere on it, not sure why the Canadian site does not. Believe someone said Yamaha was announcing some bikes next Monday, so we can start a rumor if you want.;) I know I am waiting for the announcement of any changes for the 2019, as I am looking to replace my '13 with a new one (got the itch).
