Thanks Benjamin
But don't set the dates for me, It's for everyone. Aug. would be my best time though.
Aug sounds good , that way I might be able to make it as the wife and I are doing a trip to Alaska in July.

I talked to http://www.blackcanyonjellystone.com/ They claim a 10-20% discount for rallies or reunions. How does late august sound? It's obvious to me (looking at threads from past rallies) that I will not be able to do this rally on my own. Some experienced rally organizers would be greatly appreciated if any are willing to help out a noob...

At least you are willing to step up with someone helping out. Thank you! An organized rally is more enjoyable, imho. I've mentioned this before and will do it again. Have a reasonable fee, maybe with a t-shirt included, and the organizers make a few bucks for their labors. I'll be watching this and hope to make it.

Benjamin, I have zero rally experience, but I live in Hotchkiss, so Montrose is an easy one for me. Let me know how I can help you. Or maybe we get together some time and hash this all out, with the input of someone who has done a rally before. Let me know how I can help.

Benjamin1031, the first order of business might be to set specific dates. The dates have to work for you and for the venue. Once the dates are set people can see if they can fit it into their schedules and you will start to get an idea of many people might show up. Just a suggestion.

Three Sisters ride near Kerrvillie, tx, great ride, best time is March/April or october/november. good camp grounds, hotels and food. there is also a yamaha dealer in the town in case some unfortunate problems happen.

Also the Y.O. Hotel there I Kerrville is fantastic. We had the www.ridemsta.com national rally there a few years ago.

yep we have a annual ride (going on 10 years now) every year and all stay at the Y.O. this years ride will be the weekend of April 1st, it started out as an Suzuki M109r about 20 t0 25 but now there is just about every bike under the sun, ill be there on my Tenere, if interested the block of rooms are under m109 riders. unsure of how many will be there this year last year about 15. get some more S10 riders we can turn this thing into a annual Tenere ride. These guys that ride are some of the most solid people you will ever meet and ride with.

(any bike is always welcome too)
The KOA is our campground base.... but some will motel it ...including me
Theres a thread on this forum & the main one on TWT

October/ November is a bit late for us northerners and I was hoping for something more central.

I have been on this forum for only a couple of years and have never attended a National Tenere rally but I'm certainly interested.
That said, reading through this thread (at 11 pages now) there are suggestions as to where, not where, when, not when..... and so on.
::002::
Any thought to getting 3 or 4 long term members who have attended the national event and forming a committee to make a final decision and set a time and place?
It may be to late for 2017 planning but I'm talking long term.
You certainly can't please everyone but maybe change the geographic location from eastern to western US and move the month every other year. Decide if the members want camping or a hotel or even both.
Just sort of thinking out loud here....my 2-cents. -JEP-

I've been watching this thread for weeks hoping someone would plan something definite so I could request vacation to attend.

A combination of holidays, plant shutdown days, and limited vacay time means I can be off from 6/28/17 to 7/17/17. That's the longest possible string of days that I can arrange off in 2017 (in fact the longest in quite a few years).

So, everyone cater to me and set up a rally the week of July 4th!

Like I said early on first page of this thread:
"A Rally location most likely gets set when somebody steps up and announces they will take a lead in organizing and planning it."

If we can't find one person to do this I suspect we won't find 3-4 people to do it then.

Maybe you are that one person? Use your dates, pick a location you like and start a new thread. People will either come or not. And I can guarantee you that no matter what location or date you pick, there will have some attendance.

Sorry guys. I thought I would be able to help put this years rally on but I just can't seem to find time. I've got all kinds of great excuses but I won't waste your time. Suffice it to say that I'll give anyone who steps up my support but I can't be the dude this year.

That's genius!

Once my vacay is approved, I'll start a new thread. Hopefully some locals can advise me because I've never been there.

My thought is to camp somewhere near Cortez, CO. This would enable day loops to Mesa Verde, Million Dollar highway, Valley of the Gods/ Moki Dugway, Monument Valley, Canyonlands NP, Arches NP... so many possibilities. There's even a casino to dump wives off at.

Dates are close to solstice so lots of daylight for riding, and full moon is Jul 9 so lots of light for camping. I assume the high passes will be clear. I guess the weather will be hotter than I'd prefer, but it is what it is.

During that time of year, temperatures in the low altitudes (Valley of the Gods for example) will be very high (likely 100°+) and the high passes may still be snowed in (only the non-paved ones).
